HIROBO Freya - Sceadu - Shuttle > SWM Evo 50 Pop Feel

I finish working on the forward and backward flips and is now moving towards the sideway flips. Every time when I hover low and then bang the left stick to the full throttle as a prelude to the flip, my Evo 50 does not have that kind of "explosion" to leap up into the sky. Also while hoverig in idle-up, if I toggle the left stick between +ve and -ve pitch rapidly, the Evo 50 will go up and down but without that kind of pop/explosion. Hope you guys know what I mean.

What kind of modification/upgrade do I need to get the "pop" feel?

Here is what I am using:

Throttle Curve: 100%, 80%, 60%, 80%, 100%
Pitch Curve, -10, -5, 0, 5, 10
Head speed at idle-up hovering: ~1900rpm

Throttle and Cyclic Servos: JR DS537
Engine: OS-50 SX non hyper
600mm wooden blades

Up your collective to + 12/-12. It'll give you some more pop, but your going to need to work on collective managment or you'll start to bog it.
You can also up your RPM, this will help as well. Not sure on the non-hyper, but If I remember correctly, the Evo with a Hyper likes about 2000.
EDIT: Just noticed your running wooden blades. I wouldn't up the RPM with woodies. IMO If your begining to get into 3D a good set of blades will make a HUGE difference. I noticed a major difference when I switched.

A CarbSmart and a Governor will fix that.

It is very difficult to get the maximum out of a 3D setup using simple pitch/throttle curves. Cyclic inputs have a big effect on power requirements, so linking the throttle to just collective doesn't factor in the cyclic loads.

A workaround that existed before governors became popular was to add mixes for cyclic->throttle. The idea is to add a mix in your radio to increase throttle as you increase cyclic deflection from center. On the Futaba radios, you'll need one mix for fore/aft cyclic and another one for left/right cyclic.

Realistically, if you're going to be stick-banging it's a heck of a lot easier to just get a governor. I'm running the TJ-Pro, which is fine for most flying styles; is cheap and easy to install. You can usually find used ones in the classifieds.

The CarbSmart is great for optimizing the mixture setting on the engine. This provides peak power while protecting the engine from overheating. Definitely worth the investment.

The JR537 servo's wouldn't be exciting the performance much either! Try some Futaba 9252's. They are well priced and high performance servos. Have you tried adjusting the mixing ratio on the head and removing weight from the paddles may help too.

Blades

You need better blades start there first

There is nothing in this world constant, but inconstancy.

Before you do anything else, get some good blades, Radix, Fun Tech or the Mavrikk G5's should fit the bill.

You will spend way more repairing your shattered heli from a thrown wooden blade. I've seen it happen a few times, the resulting mess is not pretty!

Also, you're probably missing out on about 5~10% power by not running the Hyper version of the OS50. A hyper carb (60L) alone will unlock that power. The motor will run a little hotter by not using the hyper cylinder head, but the carbsmart would help with this.

I would probably invest in a decent muffler before a governor, but that's me... If it's in the budget, get both.

One more thing...

Keep the all up weight as low as possible.

If you're running a sub-C Rx pack, swap it out with a pack that uses a smaller cell. Remove the horizontal fin or any other extra bits that don't absolutely have to be on the heli.

Proofread carefully to see if you any words out.
