Avant Aurora - EFX - FX > Rudder servo arm length?

Anyone,

I notice in the forums that the cyclic servo arms should be 25mm from hole to hole (12.5 from output shaft to hole). But what is the length required for the rudder servo arm from output shaft to the hole. It looks quite a bit longer than the cyclic arms from the manual.

Just curious what the guys are running? Is 17.5mm enough?

I'm not home to measure right now but I belive 17.5 should be fine.

19mm is the correct distance from servo output shaft to ball link, or the out most hole on the big Futaba servo disk.

What gyro are you using and what is the degree of deflection on the ball link in the normal setting at full right or left stick from center?

He is using a 611. If you are using a 611 set your limits to at least 120.

I am using a 20mm distance, running a 8900G tail servo with the old discontinued Airtronics HD wheels. I am seeing a gain of 30% with my spartan gyro. Danny/Markus however, use the heavy duty double sided arm(which is shorter than my Airtronics wheel) that comes with the 8900G/8717s,with the ball on the outer most hole and I believe are using a resultant gain of 35% on the spartan. I set my limits to where the tail servo is not buzzing when at either end of the pitch range on the tail shaft.

With the bell crank, it is set up much like the align helis, where the L pitch slider is perpendicular to the tail shaft, and the tail blades will have a slight amount of pitch in them. (This is in normal mode on the gyro as well).

Which hole is the ball link in? I assume the outside hole when you say this.

Have you never set your own tail up before?

The reason I ask, is that anyone who has ever set up a tail KNOWS that every heli setup is slightly different.

You can't just say to a guy, "use this whole on your tail", and your tail will fly perfect out of the box. There is an INFINITE number of variables.

"El Dooderino" if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

Dood, Yes I have set up many of my own tail before.

But your missing the point I don't have the dam helicopter yet!

Just looking for a little help here with a reference.

I'm ordering custom arms, I guess I'll have to wait until I get the freakin heli and then order my freakin arms and figure it out myself!

Thanks Dood!
