| clutch alingment-boom install-instructionsMy Aurora build is almost finished. I decided to check the fan for fun....0005 in. without the nut tightened, after tightening the nut I was looking at .001 in. The plastic fan its self is very rigid, really well designed(like the rest of the heli) I just glued in my govenor magnet, and have found that on most of my heli's, balancing the fan was not needed.(except Stratus)
Clutch alingment: I actually needed to open up the aluminum engine mount slots(4) in order to allow a little more room for engine alingment. When I first installed the engine, I noticed that when turning the engine over slowly, I could see my clutch have a slight movement(side to side) I then saw that when comparing the bottom of the clutch bell, and the top of the fan hub...they were not in perfect parallel alingment. So I just used a carbide dremel tool and opened up the engine mount slots just a bit. After doing this, I was able to use the washer under the fan, and still be able to allow the clutch to move down away from the bell slightly, for some clearance.
I have not heard of anyone having any issues with there clutch alingment, but I also did this with my Avant EFX a couple yrs ago.
I have been very happy with the build, and really appreciate the time Augusto and other pilots have put into this design.
I would like to see a couple changes ...the new tailboom plastic sandwich holders with the 'nipples' for alingment. This proved difficult to insert into the frames. The tail rotor bellcrank bolt sticks out past the nut plate, making it really difficult to slide these holders and boom in place, as a unit. I removed the bolt, and shorted it slightly, then I was able to slide the boom and holders in place! It doesn't appear to be easily removable. I'm going to remove the right side 'nipple' in the plastic holder, then drill a small hole in that position, then use a 3mm socket head bolt to thread into the right side holder. This should make it easier to remove the boom, and provide a secure boom install.
Also, the instructions are on version two, which is good to clarify a few areas, thanks! But it would be great to see the instructions reach a level of the Vibe 50(awesome). Include a paper manual, large detailed pics with more building notes! Some things are taken for granted with the current manual. I'm sure it will improve as time moves on. It would just be easier for new builders that don't have a lot of experience. Any other ideas??
