I am new to electric. I had a crash rebuilt and now my heli has a lot less power than before, is there anyway of isolating if its the motor, esc or battery thats broke, i think or should say hope its probly the battery, heli still flys but just cant do anything anymore as soon as it bogs under any load, only running 9 degrees of pitch.

Hey Chris, from Perth(hehe),,

What heli are ya flying? When ya rebuilt it were things like the pitch and throttle curves changed? Is the belt tension, or other drag exessive? Are the blades, and paddles, in track, and in good nick?

I'm with Heliguychris on this one. It could be the electronics, but it's most likely something that's all gummed up. The first culprits I'd look into are the bearings on your mainshaft, the bearings on the tail drive pulley and tail rotor, the belt tension (or gear mesh for torque tails) and the gear mesh from you're main motor to the drive gear. Don't forget that if you have an extra twist in your belt the tension will feel like it's fine but will put a HUGE amount of excess drag on the heli.

with 2 ears and 1 mouth you should listen twice as much as you talk

.HDX 500, 4s 3700 1100kv motor.
i hear ya, but everything seems to be running smoothly, I havent checked to see that the belts twisted but I would have thought i would notice alot more than power drop if that was twisted.
I think just have to buy new battery and then if its still the same just replace motor and so on until find out what it is.
thanx for reply.

as far as p/curves,T curves, 100 90 80 90 100 on T, I can hear the heli bogging down even under a relatively slow climbout, and it wont even push 8 deg so something is definately wrong, like a nitro running badly, the heli was always on the lethargic side only running 4s had to be careful with the collective doing any flips to not blow out the tail ,but now is really bad, cant gain much forward speed and even mild 3d is just out of the question the way things stand.

Hey Chris, sounds like a elec problem, for sure. If ya like, i fly at foothills in Armadale on sat and sun arvos,, ya more than welcome to pop down for a fly or three, and maybe we could (bout 5 heli dudes) all have a look and see if we can find the drama. I have a fp 3700 4s that i use for a starter battery for the nitros, you could try if ya like.
Anywayz, good luck and fun!
Chris.
