HIROBO Freya - Sceadu - Shuttle > 601 / 611 Gyro settings for EVO 90?

I was flying an EVO 90 I recently traded for - I swapped out a 500Y and put a 601 on it. In fast backward flight the tail blew out pretty bad today - enough that I actually thought I'd lost the tail servo for a moment! I increased the gain on the fly from like 48 to 60 and it improved, but then seemed to have a tight nervous wag in fast backward flight.

I really haven't learned any of the finer points for setting up a 601/611. Does anyone have any gyro settings they can recommend for the EVO 90? I have large plastic dream design tail blades and not carbon, but they seem pretty stiff and have good visibility so I plan to keep them on.

Thanks,
Ryan

Run 35 to 40% gain with good CF tail blades and the machine will work just fine, backwards or forwards it won't matter. Keep the HS at 1850 at a constant RPM and all will be good.

Oh yeah, I'm using a multigov with a HS of 1850 or 1900 (is selectable on Aux 2)

Are you talking gain setting on the gyro setup or the travel adjust for my gear in the radio? I think I'm using the default of 100% on the Gyro Gain Adjustment on the 601 and was running 48% on the radio and it wasn't enough to hold. I do have carbon tail rotors I can try as you've suggested.

Oh yeah, should I be running F3C or 3D mode. I actually forget what I set it to but will check tomorrow.

Thanks,
Ryan

ball at ~19mm on the tail servo
full tail pitch slider throw
35 to 40 gain as read on the gyro - not the tx

As Jafa pointed out, the only gain setting that matters is what the display box tells you. F3C mode is fine. If you want crisp stops the 3D mode works but the F3C mode is good enough for most.

Tail pitch slider throw is full for sure. That's one thing I always set before I even spin up the blades. The ball is out around 17mm. I could try a different arm but the extra 2mm would put me right up against the boom, and the servo is already mounted as far down as it can go. Do I need to fight for another 1 or 2mm?

My gain was at 42 as a result of my tweaking while it was in the air. I backed it down to 40.

Thanks for the input guys.
