am not sure what version of VMWare you looked at.

With HA/DRS if a host dies, you can have another host pick up the lost server and run in.

Yes, it is a reboot, but the data will be there, and the downtime is a virtual reboot.

I think that was the case until about 3.3 . . . at any rate, the other solutions I mentioned don't require a reboot - they pick up the load live . . .

We work in different worlds mate

Kinda like helis, storage is another world where you get what you pay for . . . Most of my work has been in the Fortune 100 and up, with my largest SAN deployment having about 1000 ports on the switches, and a couple thousand spindles. Millions of $$$, but over five years I was associated with it, zero outages and zero data loss . . .

Heck (knock on wood) . . I have never had a data loss on any storage system I have designed and deployed in over 10 years (not counting user stupidity in deleting stuff - some things technology just can't fix . . ) . . . and all running RAID-5 or above . . .

After seven years I have finally found the time to start re-engineering rrSearch. I just finished up phase one of a multi-part redo. By morning, search will be back and work faster than before.

By year end everything on RR will be search-able including PMs. Search input boxes will be everywhere.

That's awesome Mark thank you for taking your time to make RunRyder even better!

Is there any possibility to search threads? I am finding myself piling through a thread I read to find something again. This could be something that already works for as savy as I am... not

Yes

Search input will be top right for most screens. This new in page search will be in the context of what you are looking at (a thread).

You can use firefox to search through a page to find text you are looking for. You bring up the find window and start to type and it'll find it as you are typing it. It is a feature of firefox that I do use all the time.

I usually use Google to search Runryder for something.

I don't even use the 'site-specific' syntax to perform it.

I just include Runryder in the search terms along with what I am looking for and it usually finds it fine.
