Flybarless Rotor Head Systems > Synergy N9 Flybarless Questions

Hello

I have just finished setting up and test flying a Synergy N9 with flybarless head and V-stabi and have some questions regarding flying characteristics.

1. It seems with the v-stabi N9 it is difficult to maintain a fast, level, locked- in pirouette. What I mean by this is there seems to be communication to the pitch and roll axis. The heli wobbles around in the pirouette and it requires a lot more cyclic correction than the same heli with a flybar. I have checked the calibration of the sensor with the calibration plug-in and it is perfect. Is this something that can be resolved or is it a characteristic of the v-stabi?

2. Another unnerving flight characteristic is the initial cyclic pop. When a full deflection cyclic input is given, the initial angular velocity of the heli is very fast and it then slows into a consistent roll rate. That is, if you start stationary flips, the initial rotation (90-180 degrees) is very rapid, then it seems the gyro sees the angular velocity is too fast and slows the roll rate to the desired value. What parameter can I change to make the heli more consistent/linear?

3. Is it possible to trim the heli mechanically. That is when test hovering in classic mode is it OK to trim the heli by adjusting the length of the pushrods to the swashplate, rather than the cyclic trim on the flight parameters page.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Vbar Ideas

1. Did you do the piro optimization? Also go to your live menu and sub trim out any tx signal until you are less than 10 on all of them. Also increase your tx deadband to between 10 and 20. Make sure your CG is as close to the main shaft as possible. Vbar does compensate-but this helps.

2. You can try to adjust cyclic rate to slow it down or increase it. Also, you can adjust expo to change the desired control feel around mid stick. This controls the amount of rate command. So if you want to slow down rate command and increase cyclic rate then use tx expo to slow down the initial acceleration then use cyclic rate in vbar to increase or decrease rate.

3. Yes you can trim the helicopter mechanically. That is fine. If you are alot out of trim there might be the same problem you have in 1. Your tx might be putting out a signal at midstick. Subtrim can remove this. Also, try the recalibrate button. Not sure what this does but it did reset my vbar to where the integrater stopped feeding the tail gyro input.

Lastly,
Try the the Vstab forum.

Please let me know how it goes.

I love these things!!!

Thanks for the quick reply Art K.

I have already done the piro optimization. The rest of your ideas I will try and let you know how it goes.

Thanks again.
