Greetings,

I am just wondering how every one is getting along with their new one-way's.

I have had a bit of an issue myself. It would seem that the bearing "cap" keeps coming out of the housing. This causes the top gear to rise up and rub on the frame.

I can't possibly be the only one with this problem. I have 2 90 with the updated bearing. The first one-way has been problem free.

Any input would be appreciated.

Here is the first bearing that I removed. It pretty much just fell apart when I removed it. I had 5 flights on this one.

Here is a picture of the one I recieved for a replacement. As you can see it is coming apart and I didn't even open the package!

The 3rd one I recieved on Friday I got 9 flights out of it. While getting ready for the 10th flight I heard a slight clicking sound. I knew right away what the sound was. The 3rd one was coming apart too. I don't have a picture of that one. I was pretty disgusted at that point.

Any info you all might have would be appreciated.

Pop it back together with a little Loctite 290 right on the flange. I have 5 of these, two 50's and 3 90's and have yet to have this happen.

Nice bit of kit although standard one-ways are cheap compared to one of these and I'm only on my third in 3.5 years so still cost less that 1 of these. bullet proof yes/maybe, wallet proof - nope.

Relax.

One of my three did that in one flight. It was handled as a warranty issue by MRC with no problem. It's not a common problem, but a few instances besides yours and mine have occurred in the US. The replacement I received has been perfect.

Call Dan at MRC. He'll make it right for you.

Hey Terry,

I have had 4, and only 1 has been good. How's that for odds?

I would be glad to Loctite it back together if that was how they are supposed to be held together. In an earlier post it was stated that to open one it would require heat and a press to do it porperly. That being said this should not be coming apart like it is.

Thanks for the input Auto. I purchased these when MRC was running the promo. Not having to worry about where I might be when one starts slipping was worth the money.

Dr. Ben,
Been there done that. This is the 3rd one I have had. Warranty is not the problem. Dan has been taking care of me. It's just that the replacements are not better then the ones I have sent back. Im not sure what heppened to quality control on this particular part. Everything else has been rock solid. I don't have any complaints with Hirobo besides this particular part.

Thanks for the input guys.

Enjoy,
John

All 4 of mine have worked great. Any ideas why this happens?

Hey nighttrain,

It has to be out of spec when manufactured. The one in the package was slid out just a bit. I pushed on it in the package and it easily slid right out of the housing.

It would seem that the latested run should all be pulled and inspected.

I would be glad to hear that I am doing something wrong but when it comes apart in the package, it's obvious that the part is not manufactured correctly.

Enjoy,
John

I would bet that Dan would be interested to send the pic of yours still separated in the package back to Hirobo Japan. Clearly, this is not a situation that they would to become chronic or otherwise common.

I know the way to prep and reassemble the unit with the correct loctite product, but as you noted, that's not the way Hirobo (or MRC for that matter) intended things to be and I don't want you to undermine any needed warranty claim with the distributor or mfg.
