OK guys, laugh if you will (i can take it ), but my choice of getting the 12FG is at this point, final, but i did some searching and it ssems the only complaint is the volume of the countdown timer beep volume. i need to be able to hear it while flying. also keep in mind i am 52 years old and have good hearing, but not near what it was when i was 20.
so now i'm finding my choice for the 12FG vs the 12Z as the 12Z has volume control, and of course the 12Z has a crisper screen and case of which i am not concerned with.
if any of you can shed some input on the sound level of the 12FG i would like to hear it.
i know this may sound silly as the tie breaker, but we all have our needs in our equipment.

OK, in the 12Z manual it states that some sounds are not affected by the volume change.....the alarm beep is one of them.

On the 12Z there is one volume control. It affects some alerts while others are unaffected. For example it controls volume of beeps the radio gives when navigating and changing settings. Also it affects the volume of the count down/up timer beeps. One thing it does not affect is the alert that the radio sounds if you turn it on and throttle hold is enabled. Similar with other alarms.

Im annoyed with the soundlevel of the 12FG, Flying .90 machines 3D too close and you barely hear it.

I would like to mod it (already broken the warrenty) if its possible, so if anyone have an idea, please post it.

thx for the replies guys..........i decided to get the 12Z.......it's more radio than i need, but the things like the upgraded gimbals, li-ion battery, larger display, and of course the volume control and case put me over the edge.

funny thing is, i was talking to one of my local buddies and told him i had decided on the 12Z...........his reply "that's an ugly radio".....can you believe that?
sorry if it doesn't look like you Hitec, but that's what i'm buying.

The volume feature was the deciding factor for me too. I could never hear it on the 9c. I hear it quite well on the 12z.

Since I already voided my warrenty out the window when I moved some switches around (was coming from JR X9303), I gonna open the 12FG again and have a look at what producing the sound
