I have purchased 2 cellpro 4s chargers and loved them. One started giving an alarm when I plugged it in and I stopped using it.
Now the other is doing the same thing.

Both give a code 28 after powering up the charger with no batteries attached. Code 28 is "failed to detect battery" When plugging in these chargers I never got an alarm of any king prior to plugging in a battery. Moments after i plug these in (with no battery the alarm sounds). Now I am down with no flying today!!! This stinks!

I searched this forum and found no real answers to this exact particular problem.

Any Ideas????

What are you using to power the chargers? I got that code before but only when my power supply was shutting down. If you are using your car battery make sure its not falling below 12 volts.

I just had a code 28 yesterday because a balance lead on my pack had broke loose - Use a multi-meter to test the balance leads and likely you won't get a reading for one of the cells and have to tear into the pack and resolder a broken wire - I've had to resolder broken wires on my packs several times over the years - I got to where I buy battery shrink tube by the yard

I am getting the code 28 without any battery or charging board attached to the charger. No battery is involved... I am using a Aston power supply 5A and never had any problem before. I plugged in the aligator clips and clamped each charger to my car battery to test it there and both chargers still give me the code 28 alarm. Keep in mind, one charger did this first and I stopped using it a month or so back. Was down to one and now that did it to. Mainly used one charger on a car battery and the other on the power supply. They were both being powered by different sources. Now they both suffer from the same problem. I AM GROUNDED!!

Oh with no battery attached? - That's weird - I'd contact FMA about it

But what happens if you press the mode button and/or go ahead and connect a battery?

I get other error codes for power supply issues (2 3 4 15) - I've only gotten a 28 for problems with my packs

sorry for the delay...
Pressing the reset button resets it and then in a few moments it or (they) chime the alarm all over again, the same with attaching the battery pack.

I got a loaner from the LHS and he is sending both of them in. He is well used to the chargers since he uses them too. Its been a week or so , I'll have to check in and see if he heard anything.

My Cell Pro is acting up as well. I get code
28 when I connect a battery, any battery for
that matter. I checked the leads from the battery
board to the charger as well. No bad joints,
nothing apparent. Sounds like an internal issue.
Guess I'll be calling FMA.

i can't get mine to do the "store" mode. everytime i connect a battery to discharge to 50% it ends up toping off the battery to a 100%. is there a trick to get the mode working??

It doesn't discharge - You have to put the pack on the charger when it's discharged below 50% then the charger will only charge it up to 50%

Sorry again! I haven't been on in a while.

I did send my Cell pro chargers in and received two new ones. They are working fine now... I guess there was something wrong with the others that Fma did not even question what happened.

So... FMA = Good customer support from my end!!!
