Miniature Aircraft Nitro/Gas Helicopters > Stratus or Synergy?

I've posted something similar in the Synergy forum: I'm trying to decide between the Stratus and the N9.

I'm not looking for "what I bought is better" - I get that enough from the Trex 600 crowd.

But what I would appreciate is some honest opinions about what Stratus pilots feel the strengths & weaknesses of the design is.

One thing that seems apparent is that the Stratus is a lighter machine (a bonus in the hot & high environment I live in), while the N9 seems to be more "compact" vertically - meaning it has a higher vertical CG, which I've heard is supposed to allow for more agility...

Lastly, at least for the Stratus, I've been wondering what the difference between the "Bobby Watts" version and the "normal" Stratus. The only thing I can figure is that the BW version gets more pitch for a given amount of servo input - meaning it's a bit better suited to fast 3D. Is there anything else? (I ask because, at least for the moment, I'm not able to even do fast 3D, and I'm not sure the BW version would suit my flying style...)

Thanks.

Hi

The Bobby Watts Stratus has a number of features over the standard stratus.

* The metal/delrin tail gears in the open box
* high ratio bellcranks for faster cyclic/pitch response
* frame stiffeners
* The frames are also slightly different due to the bellcranks being changed.

Not sure about the synergy as I havent really had a look at one.

cheers

Dont let the ratio throw you off from the Stratus. It will fly like a baby if you ask it to. I mix my flying up quite a bit lately and actually, some of the most fun I have had with my BW Stratus was on the break in running very rich and 1800 on the head smoothing it around. Just an awesome machine to be able to transition so comfortably between the stick banging style to the smooth stuff.

Stratus of course!!!

The price difference is not that big and with the Stratus you are getting almost everything you might ever need. Full carbon and metal parts while with the N9 you are getting G10 frames and plastic.

Also the N9 needs some upgrades (Hyperformance TT, fan etc) when everything in Stratus is perfectly machined and matched.

You can adjust the Stratus as per your flying style no problem at all.
