Anyone getting any flying in?

It has been rain, or high wind for about 2 weeks in Eastern Ohio. Today 20 MPH gusts on the ground, Wed. I though I may have a good day it was about 5-10 MPH wind on ground and then if I got above the tree line and it had to be over 30, I was bouncing all over the place. Maybe tomorrow I guess.

I know the feling. I am in SC and I tried to fly at both of my ususl spots and the wind was just making it unbearable. I got so frustrted after all the anticipation of getting to fly and then not being able to I bought a back up toy just for those days. A shiny new Traxxas Revo and man is it a blast!

I meant to do that!!!

You need to go big block. Get a hold of a Thunder Tiger EK4, it is running a TT70 in it. You can take a rear end out in less than 1 tank. I think I went through 3 of them before I got a new diff. case.

Is that a truck? You are saying that the Revo rear end can be trash in one tank?

I finally got out for a few tanks. Seems my Pantera developed a wobble where the tail nods up and down. I raised the headspeed up a bit, and that didn't help. I think the dampers may need re-lubed since I hadn't used the heli in a few months. While I was at it, I took the opportunity to install my Radix main and tail blades. I can't wait to see how they do compared to the woodies.

I flew the Audacity Tiger several times this weekend. I'm finally working on gallon #11 for 2008. Thats not 11 gallons on the Tiger but 11 gallons total heli flying this year so far.
I had a good tumble and slow piros going to the point that the guys at the field watching thought I'd lost the radio. It felt comfortable to me. I also managed a few flights on my 2007 Saito 82 powered UCanDo3D. I use Wildcat 15% 2 & 4 stroke mix on the airplanes so any airplane flying is not skewing my Helimix consumption. Its been windy in Ohio for the past couple weeks really just like Mr. Hillbilly said so the UCanDo was a lot of fun. I'm pulling the motor in the Tiger tomorrow briefly to convert the OS50 to a hyper. It's not really short on power but it is next in line to get the upgrade.

Got the Tiger motor out and converted. I test flew it this morning already and once again, quite an improvement. I was very pleased to see the top of the piston had just a little carbon on it that came off with a little MEK. The cylinder looks great as does the ring and piston. I did the whole conversion and test flight before work this morning. The key to these engines lives must be a matter of backing off from trying to wring the last drop of power from them. I have yet to need to replace a bearing in any of these engines nor have I popped a hole in a piston yet. I ran two engines in a row lean and scuffed thanks to a bad gallon of fuel but have otherwise never had an issue. I never run above 2000rpm headspeed so there must be a durability limit that is short of the power limit.

Last weekend I flew the BBC and the Pantera. 3/4 of a gallon.
I then got out my modified "Force One". The ET system reported 130 MPH flat across the field. Not bad for a little .46 pusher plank.

My name is Billm. Cough, and I'm a Heli Holic
