| It is not the boom. 600 blades have much bigger disc surface area. It is similar to airplanes wing area. For the same weight, bigger area makes it fly lighter and handle the weight better.
In order to support the weight, 550 will have to spin much faster. This is easier with electric motors. But for Glow engines, they have a sweet spot where it provides most power. This is about 17000 to produce 2000 head speed at 8.5:1 gear ratio. At 2000 with 550will not load the engine much so the engine will be happy. But the heli will not move as well due to smaller disc. If you want to run ti with 550, you will have to change to a lower gear ratio to load up the motor little more and to produce higher head speed at 17000 rpm. If you can change to 11t pinion with 7.7:1 ratio, it will spin close to 2250-2300rpm with 550s.
