Radio - Futaba FASST > 12FG and buddy box FF9

Hey All,

I've got a 12FG that I use for all my helis and I have the special lead to buddy a FF9 with it. When I plugged it in and setup the trainer function I found that for some reason the cyclic stick on the FF9 operated correctly but the collective was on the rudder stick and the rudder was on the collective.

Can someone explain whether there is a way to swap these over on the FF9 so that it can be used with the 12FG? I'm not worried about using the FF9 for anything other than buddy boxing...

Cheers - Trev

I've tried both FUNC, NORM and MIX, the channel order on the 12FG rx is different to the channel order on the FF9 rx. I think it's something to do with that? FYI...It's a 12FG 2.4FASST with the latest firmware.

The channel assignment order is different between 12FG & FF9. The most simple way is change the the channel order that matches FF9's. Next, use set 12FG's trainer mode to FUNC, the FF9 just need to set to PPM, linear throttle curve and use all the functions, pitch and throttle curve in the 12FG

Is there another way? Reason I ask is I don't really want go changing the channel order on all my helis just to buddy box one or two people. I'm quite happy butchering my FF9 if need be since that'll never get used again?

you can change the mode of the ff9 (9c)by pressing down on the two left hand buttons and then turn the tx on
you can get mode 1,2,3 and 4
i don't know how the sticks work on mode 3 & 4 but give it a try
and all model memory's will have the new mode you have selected
i hope this helps

hi payne1967,
no matter whichy mode you are using in a FF9, the receiver channel arrangement is always fixed !

hi Trev,
I don't think there is a better way to handle this....

the idea was to change the mode in the tx but still use it as a mode 2 tx with the channels now swopped over
eg mode 1 has right stick throttle but you would use the ff9 mode 1 throttle channel as the elevator in the tx
but i don't know how mode 3&4 works out
as i said it was just an idea to try , nothings lost as it doesn't work
