e-Gaui Hurricane 200 & 550 - EP100 > Hurricane 200 Mounting 401 on a seperate tray for bigger battery

Just thought I would share this. Somebody mentioned a while back about using a battery tray from a trex 450 to mount the gyro in a better location but I couldn't find any information about how to do it. So I got one and had a play to see if it would work. All in all it worked really well, very solid mounting and allows a bigger battery pack to be used. C og G is bang on and being a 401 it's great to be able to get to the pots on top instead of it being inside the frames.

To fit the tray I removed the metal frame stiffener from just in front of the main gear and used those holes to bolt the back of the battery tray to, and drilled 2 new holes to bolt the front of the metal tray to. You can buy packs of 2mm x 10mm bolts for the gaui that are the right size for the tray and hold it sturdy enough.

Hope this information is useful to somebody

Have you flown that setup yet? We've had many reset crashes with the receiver in the back (above the boom in our case). We've since relocated it to just above where you have the 401 and no problem since.

We had our 5 lockout during the very first 5 hover setup flights. Someone here got his lockout develop after few flights. I don't want to see anymore lockout related crashes on H200.

I have hovered a couple of batteries in the street to set the gyro up, no problems yet.

In stunt mode with throttle curve all at 100% it gives just short of 5 mins but the headspeed is insane. I haven't managed to finish setting it up properly yet after the rebuild because of work but I will probably drop the headspeed down to 70% which will give a much better flight time. That battery pack is a 3 cell 800mA flight power pack. I'm sure there are smaller packs that will do but this mod with the tray for the gyro was mainly to move the c g forward and to be able to get to the pots.
