I picked up a Tiger 50 NIB. How can I tell if it is the MK II or MK I?

MKI has 5mm Spindle shaft and an "oval" shape to the main blade grips,
2-piece tail blade grips with two bearings.

MKII has 6mm Spindle shaft and a "squared" shape to the main blade grips,
1-piece tail blade grips with three bearings (2 radial & 1 thrust).

It's a great flying 50...Good Luck!

I've been out of town, sorry for the delay in responding. Anyway, it's easy to ID the differences.

Tiger Mk II has a 6mm spindle shaft with black Allen head bolts securing the main rotor blade grips onto the spindle shaft vs. shiny chrome steel nylock nuts on the MkI, which screw onto the 5mm spindle shaft of the Tiger Mk.

Also, one-piece tail rotor blade grips with twin ball bearings and a set of thrust bearings vs. two-piece tail rotor blade grips on the MkI with just a pair of ball bearings.

Thanks for the info. Was hoping it was a MK II but not to be. Should be a good flyer I hope. Maybe I'll upgrade it someday if it doesn't cost too much.

If you eyeball the videos on our website of the Tiger 50 in flight, it's worth knowing they're all of the MkI. Hence, I trust you'll judge the original Mk I "more" than a good flyer, i.e. they're really good flyers!

Mouse,
You should be very happy with the MKI. It flys great and with a set of SWE blades you will have a blast. The nice thing is that with a few extra duckets your MKI can be transformed to MKII. You can start with the tail and work your way to the head upgrades in a pinch.

My name is Billm. Cough, and I'm a Heli Holic
