I notice that the Evo 90 blade grip has the thrust bearing inside whereas the Evo 50 one just uses the normal bearing. So, what is the advantage of using the thrust bearing?

The Evo50 has the thrust bearing on the inside of the blade grip between the radial bearing on the outside and the spacer on the inside. Check your manual for the parts diagram. The Evo90 uses a thrust bearing on the outermost part ie. closest to the blade bolt. All the hirobo 90 size machines have a thrust bearing on the outside of the blade grip. At one point, the hirobo spindle was stepped for this thrust bearing. (just like the Trex 600 has now).

As far as a comparison, the blade grip with the thrust bearing on the outside is a far more rigid set up.
