I am just waiting for the weather to clear up, and then I will put my 'first' flight on my 'first' pantera.

Any suggestions on what to look for with this heli?
Or just be sure its trimmed, tracking, and hit the idle-up........

A good day????......... is not crashing :)

Have you talked to John about this? He would be the one to talk to with regards to a big block.

The stock fan should work with your motor upgrade.
The cool thing (sorry for the pun) is that the stock pantera fan design is bar none. I had to do a bit of cutting to get the carb to fit. Other then that...No problems.

I think the crank shaft diameter is larger on the 91 vs the 50's and 70's is the reason he is asking what fan is used for the 91.

ya, the crank is to big to get a socket in the hub.
And now,, I got the nut on the crank and can't get it off.
I am about to demolish the hub, to save the engine, and start over.

Should just wait for the BBC

I know there is guys in this forum that have made them happen they will know the details if they would chime in. I know you will need a gearing change with the 91. I believe it is in the works with the BBC. I believe there have been several home made conversions using 70's thats about as big as you can go without a gearing changes. The larger engines run lower rpm ranges.

Give John a call he left his number for you in this thread who else would know better than the man himself.

Good luck with it let us know your results.

YS91 runs 8.5-1, gearing is fine, it is this darn hub.
I think I might just through a 50 hyper in it, and be done.
Then put the 91, in my other trex600.

I was working on that issue for my .70 when I gave up due to locating aluminum to fab an engine mount. Based on what I found online (people having similar issues on Mnt bike forks), try a thin walled, six point deep socket, then turn it down. I was going to put it in my drill press and take a file to it. The OS 70 uses a 12mm nut, and that leaves me .8mm thick walls on the socket at each point, if I were to use the stock hub. Should be plenty strong.

Currently flying with a hyper 50 and still planning on a different pantera with the .70, using the official BBC. It's gotta be just around the corner, if I'm reading the tea leaves right...

I just turned down the socket to clear the ID of the fan shroud.
The Production BBC is just around the courner. Proto types are still flying.
