Good rumor to start, maybe Futaba will catch wind and realize that is what we all want! I am wondering why they didn't do this in the first place? They have to know that is the way the hobby is evolving with Li batteries!

If the wings are travelling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter

Such a receiver will likely not precede the release from either Futaba or JR for that matter a servo which is actually rated and WARRANTIED for use at said voltage.

I thought I would bump this topic.

I wish Futaba would release a reciever like the Spectrum AR7100 with the gov!

They still don't have a tail servo that operates at 6V. You might be waiting a long time...

I'm seriously considering jumping to JR / Spektrum. Futaba has been very slow to respond to the market lately.

Good Judgement comes from Experience. Great Judgement comes from Bad Experience.

Are there any servos that are actually rated for 8volt use? Till we see any that are rated for that kind of use from the manufacture i doubt we will see any 8 volt receivers from Futaba.

personally I'm fine with my 8717's on 6.8volts and Reactor X (fast enough for me). Plus i know there running safe on that voltage.

Many of you were IRCHA.

Many of you watched Nick Maxwell fly.

I'll wager you'll agree he was among the best there. Indeed, he is amongst the best 3D pilots in the world. Period.

He flies BLS351's.................

.........on 5.6 volts.

So before you all decide that 8 volts is REALLY needed for YOU to fly well, first ask yourself why Nick doesn't seem to need it to fly as well as he does. Then reconsider whether the key to you really flying "off the hook" isn't running a 6V mfg rated servo at 8 volts, but, rather, simply burning a ton of fuel mixed with some God given talent.

FWIW,

Ben Minor

Ben

I don't give a XXXX what the pros use I hate having all the additional wire mess associated with a regulator!

Thanks for your input.

I have been running my Futaba stuff on 8 volts with no problems. I have over 75 flights on both of my machines. I have the 6014FS receiver and BLS451 servos. All on straight 2200mah 2 cell right to the receiver and to servos. No problems.

Yet

This will unfortunatley shorten the life of all components,
and can lead to a catastrophic failure.

There are very good reasons to not do this, but you are
taking a large risk, and the lack of a problem so far is definitely
not an indicator that this is a safe long term practice.

best wishes,

m

Ok, thanks. The JR 8717 is only rated at 6 volts too.
