Miniature Aircraft Nitro/Gas Helicopters > Stratus leaning out

Hello everyone,
yesterday i was out flying my stratus. It is a fairly new ship for me, has only a few flights on it. I have the YS 91SR. I was flying it for about 4 minutes and the engine temp was nice and cool. After the tank got below half way i notice the engine seeming to lean out. I was doing the same mid 3D maneuvers with no change in needle settings. The engine temp started to rise and became hot. The only thing i could think of is that there was a whole in the pressure line but i couldn't find on. Any suggestions one whats wrong?

Thanks
A.J.

It's not the pressure line it's the feed line. It sounds like the clunk line might be ripped or has a hole in it. It flies great at full tank because the line is submerged in fuel but once it goes below half the hole or rip isn't in fuel and it sucks in air.

Are you running a fuel magnet? If so, then check if the foam has deteriorated or has fallen off. I would also check he crank pump line and the one way valve

Yup think i got it. There was a small crack in the fuel line inside the tank. It went from the base of the nipple to just beyond the end so it was sucking air when it was below half tank. I hope that was the only problem. I will try it out this weekend.
Thanks guys

Where are you guys flying at A.J.? I'm at my parent's house in Athens for the summer and should have my Stratus ready to go within the month.

I custom made a mounting plate and installed it on the bottom right screw of the right tail boom support. I then installed a Header Tank on it. Good to the last drop of fuel!

Header tanks are for pussies! Just use a fuel magnet and all your problems will go away.

i am flying at with Athens Model Airplane Club. It just south of Watkinsville about 10 miles. Also called the sandpit flyers. Its usually pretty quite because most of the members just talk about flying. I usually can only fly during the week since i work just about every weekend.

I don't have the website for the club right now. I will try to get it to you. If you want i can PM you my number.

I have your number as I remember talking to you about a year ago before you ever bought the Stratus. The club you're talking about sounds really close to where I live. Just like you though, I get my flying done during the week.
