Got Jet Fuel? Turbine Helicopters > Jetcopter SX pht3 main mast upgrade?

Looking to upgrade to 12mm mast and new rotor head. Already have the parts but have never had this heli apart and I don't have a manual. Can anybody help me out with a diagram or some instruction on how to remove the old 10mm and install the new 12mm mast. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wouldn't it be best to ask the manufacturer?

goto peter wales web site,

he gives step by step instructions on how to remove the shaft and main gear, this list of methods is to change the rotation,

but all you have to do is keep the main the same way, and replace the bearing blocks in the main frame and then slide in your new shaft..

If you cannot find peters web site, PeterRob has just done my hot cat from 10mm to 12mm, pm him

Is the Hotcat the same as a Jetcopter SX?

the jetcopter uses the PHT3 mechanics, which comes from jetcat,

all the jetcopter is a different set of skids, base plate, tail boom and head from the hotcat.

What comes form jetcat is the turbine and main frame, which is why this turbine is so good for pod and boom.

All you need to do is change the main bearing blocks, on Peters web site it gives the instructions on how remove the shaft and bearing blocks without removing all the turbine.

To start with, remove the swashplate and everything above it on the mast.
Next, you need to remove the top bearing housing, the bottom bearing housing and the loosen the 3 collars on the mainshaft. This will loosen the mainshaft and allow you to remove the locating pin in the autorotation hub

Now you can remove the mainshaft completely,

that is copied from Peter Wales web site.

Upgrading to 12mm

Matt, your posts are a little miss-leading
If you are only upgrading the shaft to 12mm, then you do not have to touch the small bearing blocks that sit against the main gear,
The replacement shaft needs to me 10mm diameter from the bottom of the shaft to 100mm up the shaft, any less and you will have problems re-assembling
In addition, I fit a 12mm thrust race under the top bearing block in the side frames
Snake Eyes,If you have tried e-mailing me,it is out,try PM

I Know that Peter, that is why i did not mention about flipping them over along with the main gear or even touching them, .

Whats wrong with the 10mm shaft? I have been using them in both a Powercat and Jetcopter and have had no problems.

10mm shaft?

Mark Spies, Nothing wrong with the 10mm shaft, some people like to upgrade their heads, and blade holders, there is a bigger and better selection if you go to 12mm
