I don't recall specifically, but the Futaba manual (available online if you don't have it) covers that pretty well.

YEP read the manual but i done all setups possible and I have it now set so it leans a bit at 80 % throttle only a tiny bit and a little richer when at idle ..
Sounds good and flys well ..
Honestly ..I dont know if it really makes a difference i have to start meassuring temps ..
But I dont believ an engine should run wihtout it ...
I dont want go and buy a crabsmart so this is the next best option ..

I have been flying without engine management for a while but as I said I believe its a lot better if only for the lifespan of the engine to have the needle move in flight to adapt to load ..
Try around with the GV1 ,,,
I found almost noone uses the throttle function which IMHO is silly ..
Common sense tells me its better for the engine .,.and using its throttle functions saves buying another piece of equipment (carbSmart)
