When I import into Sony Vegas from my HC5 the project properties set it as 1080-24p,, Deinterlace as Interpolate, Field order as None (progressive). Do I want to change these settings?

After edit what should I render as (which .avi template. 1080-60i, 1080-50i, 1080-24p) for deshaker?

1080-24p uses cineform 2.5 codec

When I use Vegas, I render out to Cineform AVI at 1080-60i, and use that in Deshaker.

Don't get too hung up on deinterlacing your files. It's not the end of the world to work with an interlaced timeline.

When you render your final edit for something posting on the internet, you will render 1280x720p for any Windows or QT HDV files.

What version Cineform codec are you using?

So do the capture properties need to be set to anything?

Yes not the end of the world but you will however get better results deshaking your footage if its not interlaced. Any deshaker will have a harder time smoothing out a interlaced video because of the half frames and how they are interpolated.

I ran a test with the same clip through shake 4 smoothcam once interlaced and a second time deinterlaced, and the deinterlaced smooth results were a bit better.

Does anyone know why I can't open an Uncompressed Microsoft AVI file in VirtualDub? I get this message:

"Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'v210' (unknown)

VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirecShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."
