Looks like the linkage lengths are still missing. Are they included with the kit or does someone have them?

These lengths here work for head.
I used lengths very close to these with "Active"
These lengths are measured end to end.
Please note, those measurements were performed with Hirobo linkage rod ends, so your measurements may vary.

As for pushrod lengths from the servo's, what do you need a length for?

Besides, lengths in a manual are just GUIDELINES to get you in the ball park.

Measure the distance from the center of the servo output shaft, to the pivot point on the bell crank. That will be the length of both pushrods (center to center of the links).

Do the same thing for the throttle linkage.
Measure the distance from the center of the servo output shaft, to the center of the carburetor arm, that shall be the length for the throttle linkage, center to center.

The reason manuals don't give you that, is because everybody's setup may vary. Different servos, different engine, etc.

Something I didnt see in the manual...

Balls on the servo horns should be 12.5mm from center.

For Futaba servo guys like me, that means you gotta get out the drill.

I remember when Augusto was calling a RC helicopter a toy. It seems he can't make his mind up. I thought it was so odd that his first pages of his manual states the following:

Liability Disclaimer
This kit is for radio controlled (RC) helicopter. RC Helicopters are not toys.

I'm so glad he has found someone to inform him these helicopters are not toys.

Futaba mid-size "C-disk" wheels have holes with 12.5mm spacing, no mod'ing required.

Rob, by C-disk, do you mean this one?
This is what I plan on using. Have to drill them out.
There is a mark for 12.5mm.
I don't mind drilling, but if I don't have to drill anything, I don't drill.

But, I found this. I'm going to try it, and use it where I can, provided I can get away without an assload of sub trim.
This Futaba Heavy Duty servo, typically used for a car servo, comes with a 12.5mm hole.
They came with my 9451's
I'll have to try them out, not so sure I'd be able to make it work with how the left side servos overlap a little bit. The HD horn is twice as thick as a regular Futaba wheel.

edit, the furthest out hole is actually about 18.5mm. Ignore what ever it is I wrote on it.

If you run the servo wheels at 13mm it will not a problem. I know that the JR wheels are not 12.5mm, but they are close enough to 90, and I havent noticed any performance flaws.

Hey Dood,

The c-disk(s) has pre-drilled holes - I'll post a pic tomorrow when I get back home (far far away right now)

The new wheels must have been changed. All of mine aren't/weren't pre-drilled.

I stand corrected - the c-size wheels are not pre drilled. The have labeled con-centric rings, one of which is 12.5mm and score lines across their diameter to help position the holes.

The T horns that ship with the Futaba 9351 have holes at 13mm and work just as well.

For JR servos, the large wheels that ship with the 8717's have holes at 14mm (closest spacing) and work ok. The back edge of the wheel on the ELEV servo may have to be beveled slightly to avoid contact with the servo below it. 14mm spacing also puts the lower linkage on the ELEV servo wheel very close to the servo below it - try to space the servos as far apart as possible when installing them to avoid this.

A good alternative is JR's heavy duty servo horn set (JRPA207) - 2 packs will be needed. The short arms have holes at 12.5mm, the star arms have long and short arms - trim to fit.

One possible downside to these arms is that the 8717's will usually strip the splines in the horn in a crash without damage to the servo's gear-train - this may not be the case with these arms - haven't tried this yet

Just want to make a note that control rod's measurement is from center to center. The manual also has detail control rod length.

As Dood mentioned, this length will provide 30 degree of pitch traveling which uses active setting on the programmable head.
