| r/e greybeard: The key phrase in your post "I'm new to this hobby" - You sir, are wiser than many, to realize that the machine you found (an antique) is *not* a good one to learn on. You need an easy-to-get-parts-for heli to learn on, so that in the (likely) event of an upset, you can get the heli flyable again soon, before you forget what you've learned. The 2 options for the machine you've found: a) sell it to a 'antique heli' enthusiast, and use the funds to buy something to learn on; or b) keep it to fix up and look at and / or fly later, once you've learned on a modern machine. Flying an antique takes much more patience than *just* operating a modern heli, as you may need to adapt, scrounge, search, or make from scratch some of the parts for the antique; maybe a bit like restoring an old car (although I've not gotten sucked into that hobby - yet )
Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups. |
