Not sure. But mine is a bit tail heavy with any fuel in the tank (perfect balance with 0 fuel).

Jason Adamo: Personally I think it is aesthetically unpleasant (kinda reminds me the X50 or even the aurora) but I'm sure opinions will vary. However, like Pinecone mentioned previously, unless you start chopping things in the back, the bird is going to be tail heavy with such a skinny setup (AR7100 and radio bed mod) although I don't think the weight savings are significant by modding the radio bed. Nobody posted about the exact weight save but I hardly doubt it will go over 18-20gr. You can save 3 times that just putting a microservo as throttle or changing to a low weight gyro (Spartan weights 14gr vs 611 at 74gr)

I'm putting in the 7100r, 3 8717's, 8900g, 8400g, and the 770 3d gyro powered by a outrage 3600mah. So my whole radio set up is only 168.72 grams

I'm sorry bursting your bubble but I would do the math again...

just one 8717 weights 69gr (3 x 69 = 207gr without leads)

Outrage 3600mAh 160gr without connectors

I'm not going to bother to weight the rest but just with 3 servos and the battery you already have 367gr and I'm not including leads and connectors (add another 7-8gr total)... 168gr is completely utopian.

Yeah i dont know what i was doing i was at work but any way i have a 2500 in the 50 and a 3600 in the 90. So lets try again (not mixing ounces and grams)

3 8717's =207
1 8900g =59.5
1 8400g =29.5
770 =30
7100r =32.5
2500 outrage =110
Extra wires and ex. =7.4
total 475.9 grams (16.8 ounces rounded up) not to bad for a 50 sized ship.

That is pretty close to my setup except I am using a Spartan instead of the 770 and a 9452 instead of the 8400 for my throttle. The rest is the same, 7100R, 8717s, 8900 and Outrage 2500.

(The custom paint added an extra ounce to the canopy)

Do you have a 9303? What are you governor values for the 7100r? It would save me lots of time and fuel to have a good starting piont. Thanks

Yes, I am using a 9303. I am using 85 and 92 in the gov menu for Idle 1 & 2. I haven't tached it yet to see what headspeed I am running but it doesn't seem too high.

Here is a vid of my buddy flying it to give you an idea of the headspeed

I'm sorry, I think you misunderstood. The weight is not 7.14 lbs, it is 7 lbs 14 ounces or 3528 grams. I haven't done anything to lighten it besides removing the horizontal fin.

Nice heli, I like the mods

Thanks you will have to cut the Boom and Torque tube Shaft around 3cm and eliminate as much as possible from the tail to change the CG front.
The distance from the tail shaft center to the main shaft center is the same as my 600N now, the vibe is prepared for 600mm and 620mm blades, I will use only 600mm.

Hi Jason

IMO They are not bad at all, but its a little to slow comparing DS285 to 8717´s at 8v, you can see the difference in speed moving the stick.

I am convince on using mini on throttle but I will upgrade to DS290G or DS287G i think

DS290G
Specs
Size Category: Minis and Micros
Type: Digital
Torque: 13 oz/in @ 4.8V; 16 oz/in @ 6V
Speed: .08 sec/60; .07 sec/60 @ 6V
Dimensions (WxLxH): .45x.87x.85
Weight: .25 oz

DS287G

Specs
Size Category: Minis and Micros
Type: Digital
Torque: 13 oz/in @ 4.8V; 16 oz/in @ 6V
Speed: .08 sec/60 @ 4.8V; .07 sec/60 @ 6V
Dimensions (WxLxH): .45x.87x85 in.
Weight: .4 oz

DS287g weights .4 Ounces (oz) = 11.3398227359 Grams (g)

but the interesting part is the speed .07 sec/60 @ 6V

Not sure why the DS290G weights .25oz probably the number is mistaken.

Did the compare to that weight Tony???
