I just got my first 10 or so flights in on my Gaui 200. Have one year under my belt and nearly 700 flights total on Blades and 450's. I got the G200 to fly in my back yard to increase stick time to learn quicker. I'll save the 450 for the field.

I love - love - love this little bird. I can really crank it around weaving in between trees and hard nose dives and I am truly amazed at how hard I can nose dive this thing and recover it at the last minute.

My problem. Today, all of a sudden I started seeing the heli just shut off and fall to a crash. The heli is fairly crash resistant as long as there is no "chicken dance". I experienced this failure at least 8 times today. I can fly it well and this thing keeps shutting off. I wouldn't have crashed once today if it weren't for this power shut off.

What do you think? Anybody have this problem?
Setup: Yes? the Ar6100/Dx7 & belted tail, HS45's on cyclic, cheap tail servo that works futaba 3114, 401 gyro mounted up front. Gaui 2s batteries.
Ps. another complaint: I have stripped or ripped in half 3 bell mixer arms. They are just too weak. Not to mention having to wait for back orders on these things. Hmmm, seems everybody must be ordering these since they break so much. Just like everyone else, I have a ton of spare parts and have spent a lot on this gaui.

It sounds familiar. As I was reading, I somehow knew ar6100 was going to come up and it did.
We sufferred 5 reset crashes in 5 flights. Where is the receiver mounted? We had it mounted as shown in the picture and moved it under the black part of the canopy. It never gave us trouble afterwards.

Yep! I mounted it right there too. I have it mounted on top of the 2 sloping carbon frame members. It straddles both the carbon frames at the rear. I have the 401 gyro mounted up front on a Trex battery tray. ( a mod I found on one of the forums). I thought this only happened while in stunt mode at higher throttle speeds. I found it also happened in normal mode. I think I will make the change like you did and see if It helps.
thanks Jojo

They're likely getting zapped by static. Ground the boom to the RX negative and be done with it. I had the same problem with my EP100Pro.

Come to think of it, what martin says makes some sense to. The location I had trouble was right next to the belt.

Aside from the first 5 flights that resulted in crashes, I've never experineced a reset in 75-100 flights between our 2 H200BD.

I wondered about static too. I hear that's a problem with the Ar6100. I am half way through the rebuild to relocate components. I broke my first servo and plan to buy a replacement tomorrow. I think I'll ground the boom too. I might have some feedback for you guys by Sunday. thanks a lot! Can't wait!

Just checking in again...

I had 2 spare Ar6100's that I tried. I thought upon testing the first one that the first receiver was bad but then the replacement receiver started cutting out like the first one.

I have been up early this morning getting the Gaui ready to fly. I moved the Receiver up front and grounded the boom to the receiver. Hovered a few packs in the largest room in my home. It seems to be fixed. I am going to fly 12 packs (if I don't crash) through it in a half hour from now when the park opens.

I know this wasn't the best trouble shooting by fixing two things at a time but I figured both fixes would be better than one. I'll check back in later today with the test results.
Thanks guys
Jojo

I tested two receivers in the bad location and two ESCs with the receiver in the bad location which resulted in the 5 ininial crashes.

All better...

Sorry for not getting back to you guys. I moved the receiver up front and grounded the boom to the negative on the receiver and this things has not cut out since! I have finally taken this little bird to the big field at the local park and I am having a ball with it. I did manage to catch the skids in fast forward flight and not have some fixin to do but it has not cut out at all. I am pretty sure its fixed. Thanks again
