Radio - Futaba FASST > 14MZ 1.39 Update

I've searched everywhere for this update to enable FAAST on my TX, but I cannot find it. The latest version I found was 1.37.

Can someone please email me a link or email me the update if possible?

Cheers!

Ok, an update. I have the right version on my radio, but when I switch it on, it says mismatched RF module? They are not from different regions as I bought them both together.

At 2.4gigahertz.com/downloads you'll find "Ver. 121.080111" which I think includes encoder version 1.39. It will enable 2.4 GHz FASST for you anyway.

The missmatched RF module comes because the active model memory when the TX is turned on is using the old module, just saj "Yes" and go inte frequencey selection to change it to 2.4 GHz, or change model memory before changing frequency settings if that is what you want.

I tried that, but it won't let me change it. "Mismatched RF Module" "Can not change setting"

I'll try the one fron the 2.4ghz site to see if it make a difference.

Nope, no difference. The one from the 2.4ghz aite did not work either. Maybe I should downgrade first and then upgrade again?

Sorry to not be able to help!

Dear Spyker
Because yr 2.4G module is diffenrent area yr 14MZ, u buy its not same country, not same "area code", u must chager 14MZ "area code" adapted yr 2.4G module.

jonylien,

In the second post spyker writes:

Or the dealer made a mistake and gave him units with mismatched area codes. If the later is the case spyker should be able to replace the wrong item with one with the correct area code. The area code of the TX is visible during start-up and, probably, on the information screen so determining the area code should be no problem.

I changed the region to Europe using the calibration utility and that fixed my problem!
Thanks guys!

Dear Tomas Ahl

I find if u haved progame 14MZ Utility, u can changer yr TX area code for your RX 2.4G, because my 14MZ is Taiwan, but i buy RX 2.4G USA, haved same problem, when i use progame changer TX area code, now i can use RX 2.4G all area.

Futaba have screwed us all on this regional coding nonsense.

The FAAST xmitter module has nothing on it (or its packaging) to indicate what region its for. Mine (set for NZ) looks identical to one for the USA etc.

The only time you know its wrong is when guys like Spyker find things dont work. Even then it dosent tell you the region code for the FAAST module, you have to guess.

Then there are many patches out there to re regionalise the 14mz. So what have Futaba achieved but screw up new users like Spyker ?

I hope Futaba soon bring out a 14mz update that eliminates region settings for good and stop upsetting their customer base.

Dont get me wrong, I love my 14mz and I am going to be buried with strapped around my neck.

No problem, I'm with you all guys that the TX region code can be modified with quite little effort. But as spyker bought the two pieces together, at least if he bought them from a shop all I wanted to say is that he should be able to get the shop to replace the module so that he has one with a compatible region code to not need reprogramming his radio's area code at all if/when he swaps modules.

If the units were bought abroad or far away in other respects of course this also contributes to the picture about if a replacement unit is preferred.

The reason for the region coding is that each country (or region) has its own regulations concerning RF output. If you look at the Spektrum modules there is a small switch on the back so you can switch the power output depending on country. Don't ask me why it would matter. But if you look at it from another point, you can't use 35 mghz in the US but can't use 72 in Europe.

I think someone has already pointed out the output power from the FAAST module is already set at the lowest ie it dosent change with regions.

That aside its still stupid to sell modules the hard programmed to different regions but have no way visually or otherwise to determine what region the module belongs to.

This must be hell for Internet businesess ie CyberHeli that sell into many markets, the oppotunity for shipping the wrong unit is high.
