e-BEAM Beam E4 > Beam vs. MA Bandit

I have pre-ordered a Bandit this morning and want some opinions on which is the superior kit? I know no one has actually flown the Bandit yet on these boards, but any comments would be helpful as I want to have the best quality 450 machine.

Hi mate !

You've already asked if the BEAM was better or not compared to the Mini Titan in this BEAM forum. The reports are that the BEAM is the best all way around in its category, at least for those in this forum.

I doubt you will be coming out from here with a better view than the one you had with your Mini Titan question.

Take the BEAM for granted. It really is an awesome helicopter from all points of view.

Does it really fly that much better?

I mean, looking at the BEAM head, it's just a beefier T-rex style head. So in my simple logic, I would think that it would fly pretty similar. Maybe it'll offer a wider range of pitch and cyclic angle than a T-rex, but will it wow you like the adjustible mix ratio heads? I had a Dragonus head on my T-rex and was just amazed with the stability and agility of the heli with that head. On the most gentle setting, it was almost T-rex 500 stable, but could flip on axis when set on the 3-D setting. The MA Bandit will have the exact same mechanics in their head and I think that will make it the best option for anyone really. Of course, that's just my opinion.

No doubt right NOW, the BEAM looks to be the highest quality 325mm bladed heli out with the SJM 325/450 V2 right along side of it (I actually just ordered the SJM and hope to get it soon). With the Titan SE just coming out and the Bandit, Rave, and Outrage G5 (this heli also has adjustible mix ratio) to follow, quality and options are going to just get better.

So to answer the posting member's question, I PERSONALLY feel that the Bandit will be the better heli because of the versatility of the adjustible mix ratio head and I am sure that the quality will if not be better, at least be of equal quality to the BEAM. Parts availability and price will probably be a big difference seeing that BEAM parts are very well priced.

More interested in Bandit and Rave. Bandit will rule, no doubt.

But what interests me with the rave is the option for 350 blades and the tube drive. Most of it looks alot like the RC-TEK Diablo with one piece frames and a really cool canopy.

But also have not yet flown one of the direct drive belt helis which may do. Have been wanting to see a tube drive on a 450 for years and you can get one for the Gaui 200 first.

I think the limit is pretty much hit how good you can get a 450 heli, so it wont be much difference anymore.

I mean, my beam is almost as stable as any heli when coming in for landing etc, what more can you expect.
(compared to my T-rex 450 which was all over the place regardless, and that even with the V2 head)

So I think it mostly comes down to part availability and LHS stock.

I think the extra 25mm will make a difference.

And small improvements on the Bandit like the one piece landing gear and other areas to save grams all add up. An ounce or 2 is very noticable at this size.

But I do see your point, I think we may finally have a few small heli options with some real quality.

I've seen many quality control problems posted for the Beam lately. Most are minor issues that can be easily remedied. However, I hope the Bandit isn't plagued by the same issues!

I don't think the Bandit uses 350mm blades though. I know for sure that the Rave and Outrage G5 (running on 6S!!) will be swinging 350 blades.
