Hey Guys,
I converted my Hawk III to electric. It's flying great and I figured I would post some pics and my setup.

Hawk III
Antirotation bracket
tailboom servo mount
Mega 22/45/3 motor
22t Joker Pinion
Schulze 35ho ESC
Ultimate BEC
16 cell GP3300 battery pack
Airtronics RD6000
GY240
Flys with good power for 8 minutes - I'm hoping I can get more with fiberglass blades.

Pics are in my gallery.

Stephen,
Fantastic! Glad to see someone that has done this on RR.

What's the performance like? Any plans to go with lithiums or what?

I am about useless on e-helis but I think they are cool. Can't wait till these newer generation li-poly cells that everyone has talked about come out and get into the modeling communities hands. I would jump into a e-heli one day when the power and flight times are good!

Performance is really strong! I may try a 20 cell pack pretty soon just to see how much of a difference it makes. No plans to move to LiPoly yet - the technology is still way too expensive for me.

That looks like a nice conversion. I'm considering an eRaptor, but your eHawk looks interesting too.

I especially like your battery hangers... where are they from?

Hey Guys,

The AUW with cells is 8.0 lbs (on a postage scale). The cells are coming in at about 2.5lbs. I'm using the stock hawk III blades (550's I think) but I just ordered a set of 550mm semi-symm fiberglass blades. The battery holders are from the vario silence - you can get them from vario usa. Your VE sounds pretty neat! Post some pics if you can! I think a Shuttle would also be a great conversion because of the low weight.

Stephen: Wow... good job on the conversion how many feet above sea level are you? Do you find the 16 cell packs adequate for power? I just started thinking about doing this conversion. Any more performance data? Again really cool!

Hey Brendin,
Not sure about the elevation around here. I'm in central Texas(Austin). It has pleanty of power - 16 cells is enough for the type of flying that I do( no 3D - just normal flying around).
