Having something thats both different and cool makes the consumer see a lot of enjoyment in the investment.
When purchasing a 90, I think most of the market expects the full package and there are plenty of options that now offer that.

I do not like that everyone is just copying the aurora. And there are a lot of subtle things that can be done to make a unique look.
Align has a look, avant has a look and TT has a look. So shal hirobo and it's in their best interest and the consumer to not copy.

It's good to look at automotive design. If you ever see the subtle lines on a BMW vs. The newer Volvos.
Volvo had some pretty ugly body designs in the past but now they are trying the BMW look but has put their own spin on it. They make their cars have the BMW style, but they look a more beefy hard-body design because volvos are solid tough cars. They have taken an existing look and added their own identity and that is key. Just google image some of these cars and look at the differences. The same learnings can be applied when designing these canopies and realize, that the Hirobo design guys are faced with the same challenges. If only they had an automotive concept designer design the canopies, that would be killer.

GLfloat agree with what you have said. Just a shame that the latest Hirobo offering looks like an old boot.

Glenn, you certainly have a way with words...

Hey… Someone once said, that when it comes to advertising; Bad press is Good press. If that is true, then Hirobo should be pleased with all this free advertising…

he he...I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Truth is most 3D heli's aren't that pretty to begin with. Most scale heli's look much better. I like Hirobo. Just not that canopy.........

At the 'Cup this weekend I had a chance to look the latest prototype over in great detail and 'paw' through it.

Overall I think the design is VERY well thought out and they are still making minor changes, everything is exceeding well fit and machined and I'm very excited about getting one. It also felt VERY light in my opinion but I didn't have a scale with me to quantify. Also you can run 710s and 105s on the tail, and the gearing choices are numerous. FINALLY!!!

As for looks, as said before beauty is in the eye of the beholder, lot of guys think Julia Roberts is hot but with those lips she looks like she is wearing a baboon's a$$ on her face in my opinion. I think the D3 looks pretty darn good. To each, his or her own I say...

As for flying, well XFC speaks volumes.

BTW, if you are creative you can fit pretty much any canopy you want on this bird. Don't feel locked in Frankly I feel like all of the canopy designs on other heli's out there are starting to look exactly the same, Raptor and Hirobo seem to be the only ones that are truly unique. Just an opinion tho.

If this is the new canopy, it's way different than the prototype and with the right paint job, it could be nice. At least the canopy is more modern than the prototypes show earlier.

To quote Dan from MRC:

The price is still being negotiated but it will be on par price wise with competitor 90 kits.

And the canopy in the pic looks pretty damn good to me.

I think the canopy actually looks the same just by looking at it as the prototypes(I could be wrong, but looks the same to me), just has a different paint job. You can make a canopy look almost however you want it with a paint job, just looks like he's painted a longer cockpit on it that the prototype pic. IMHO I thought it looked awesome either way, the shape of the canopy will lend itself to some great paint jobs.

From the picture above and the angle of the canopy, it almost looks like the the caliber 4 but more rounded in the front. I still think it looks great.

Too me, it looks like the "new" canopy is much longer towards both the front and back. It looks like it covers more of the frames as well. I still don't like it, but I like it better than the first proto.

Looks identical - the windshield is just painted longer which makes it look longer on Domenik's bird. Gets back to what I said a couple of days ago - the lack of a paint job on the proto image did not do it justice . . .

You can bet the head design will make its way down to the mid level price range Hirobos. All the team members that have flown it love its flying qualities. Indeed this Hirobo owning 3d Masters and XFC speaks rather loudly. Not that Dominik's competition was the B team either

I'll be happy as a clam if it's that cheap. Based on the price of the Eagles, I would suspect a good bit more myself . . .

Those canopies look the same, the cockpit looks like it's just painted longer on Dominik's. It's funny how people's opinion of a heli can be changed over a paint job
