Got an Evo 90 fan from Maryland machine.I have heard some good things about his product. By far this was the most accurately machined/balanced fan I have seen. I prefer the key design over the collet so I decided to give it a shot. I never thought dial indicating a fan hub was as easy as this. As per instructions,I simply heated the fan slightly and slipped it on . Then the crank nut was snugged. When I dial indicated the fan /hub, I was amazed ! Readings were .0003 Wow!
Just like to say thanks to Brent for such great service!

That sounds nice, but my Hirobos dial in pretty quickly using the standard method, and, as I already have the dial indicator, I guess that will continue to fill the bill for me

I have also had pretty good results with numerous collet design fan. By all means its all about what works best for you. You cant tell if you have spun the fan on the collets changing the runout. It happened to me. How many times have you gone to start your heli and it was locked ( hydro)? Well after it has spun(like on mine) my runout went to about .007. Didnt realize it until vibrations set in, fuel foaming accured, bolts started coming loose.Ok so why didnt I tighten the crank nut alittle more? Well I have also bent crankshafts by over tightening them. This is why I really like the key design, this will never happen on a big motor.
Just click on the fan at the RR home page.

What ever is easier the better for me - I have very little time between flights with Swimming, Baseball, working out, etc...

My kids do all this - NOT ME!!

Anyway - why do you have to heat the fan?
When are these available?
What models available?
Price point?

Thx

I have the maryland machine fan on my stratus and although i never had a problem with the collet style mounting the heat shrink fan takes a lot of the guess work out of getting it dial indicated correctly. seems less than .001 with little to no work plus its is balanced well.

you heat the fan to make it expand, it then slips right on the crank after it cools its tight. kind of reminds me of changing a rear engine bearing. its amazing what can be done in a oven

This is what they call it on the website? I dont think its made from heatshrink but an aerospace alloy.
