Yes, for now black and red only. Other colors will follow apparently. BUT it's the shape that is key. That is what most people hated. I am sure blanks will come soon too. In the meantime, if you do not like the color, then sand and paint it yourself or have it painted.

Personally, I'll take almost anything over the stock canopy. The Red and Black will do just fine for me I think.

I've got 7 flights on the new canopy. I prefer the new shape, but don't care for the colors either. When you're enlarging the holes for the grommets work them to the low side to raise the canopy. While cleaning up at the field yesterday I noticed cracks along the top on both sides. I believe it's from the frames, but haven't had a chance to take a close look yet.

Looks like Align is having a hard time selling their 700N! Maybe they wouldn't have to give them away if the canopy wasn't so UGLY!!

I don't think they're having a hard time selling them at all! My local hobby shop sells them for less than that with Radix off the shelf. It's an amazing helicopter at an incredible price.

Woo Hooooo - got my new canopy!

It took them 6 months from the start of this thread to come out with an improved canopy! At least it's finally here!

Sweet!

Rockohaulic,

Very nice heli, and very neat.

You have no problem with the drilled holes at all?

Which canopy mount do you use?

No problems at all!

I used the Align 700N grommets.

I measured the holes on one of my stock canopies to find out what drill bit size fits perfect. Then I set that drill bit to the side mostly to use to measure.

Then I took my dremel and the little cone shaped attachment and I used it to increase the diameter of the small hole already drilled into the HeliDirect canopy. I increased the hole in the lower direction to "raise" the canopy as I read here on RR.

I would dremel, then check with my drill bit to see if it would fit, dremel, drill bit, etc until the drill bit fit. Then I turned the drill bit by hand until it cleaned out a nice smooth round hole.

Then I put the grommets in. First the black plastic part and ca'd it, then I soaked the grommets in boiling water and inserted them.

It was easier to do than to write about!

What does the boiling water do for you?

Makes them softer so they fit in better.

The grommets for the RJX were much worse and hard as rocks untill you soaked them in boiling water.
