The gain wire on the 401 Gyro is + or -?

The GAIN wire is NEITHER. It is NOT a power lead, it is a signal lead.

On the 401 -- Black is ground, red is + volts, blue (on the three-lead plug that goes into the rudder channel) is the rudder pulse-width signal. The yellow lead on the single (red) connector that goes to the RX gain control channel is a signal lead.

So will it matter whether I plug the gain lead into + or - on the Arizona Regulator? That should have been my question.

There is no "+" or "-" connector on the Arizona. There are two jacks, each of which passes full signal through and each of which has a "+", "-", and a signal pin (symbol looks like a "pulse". The wire from the 401 gain lead should go to the "pulse" terminal, and not "+" or "-". The rudder lead should go through the other, with the connector oriented accordingly.

Well im lost now Tim thanx! A Gv1?? The gain lead and the rudder lead coming off the GY401 go into the Regulator the two leads from the regulator which are red and green go into the RX.Am I wrong? There is a + & - marking on both these inputs in the instuctions, hence my question.

Crap . . . I meant 401 . . . that's what I get for replying to too many threads - frickin' brain blur!

I'll edit to correct . . .

My point is that there are actually three markings on the connectors - "+", "-", and the other "pulse" symbol (Fromeco calls it "Signal" ), and that the gain lead goes to this" terminal, which should be the opposite end from the "-". Look at the doc again . . . http://www.fromeco.org/PDFDocs/Arizona.pdf the symbol I am referring to (and the lead you need) is directly below the "o" in the word "Gyro" in the illustration.

Tim I know you know your stuff,no dis-respect or frustation intended. But theres two ways you can plug the gain lead into the Arizona Regulator. With one lead wire I can plug it in so the yellow lead wire will be on the + side or flip it around and the yellow lead will be on the - side. Will it make a difference is what I wanna know?

You still are not seeing things correctly! The "-" is on one side, the signal lead is on the other, and the "+" is in the CENTER!!!!!

Look at the doc I linked to again . . . it is as plain as day, and matches the Arizona I installed two days ago perfectly . . .

And the gain lead goes to the signal wire - the one OPPOSITE the "-" . . .

When holding the regulator in your hands with the 2 slots facing you:

Plug the gain wire (yellow one) in the left slot of the arizona with the yellow wire facing the right side.

Plug the rudder wire in the right slot of the arizona with the white wire (futaba) facing the right side.

NO SOUP FOR YOU!!
