Not a bad deal really.
It's a 450S GF (glass fiber) version.

But... I can get the same motor/ESC combo for $50. So that brings an equiv. EXI to $150.
Although the Trex DOES come with a set of "Pro" blades. I'm not sure which ones come with the EXI.

Okay, okay.. the quality on the EXI is not quite up to Align standards, but it's still a great heli to learn on.
It's bare bones so there is the education of getting it all together, set up & flying. That is invaluable for a beginner.
And yes, this Trex is bare bones, and offers the same.

I really can't argue against this deal on the Trex. It's a good deal!

Looks like a decent deal to me. They're normally $50 a piece!
I figure that is a good starter motor/esc for my EXI.
In fact, this one is a better ESC than what comes stock on the Trex.

It should hold me for quite some time.

It's for the 430L 3550kv. But for a starting heli, that should be plenty of power.

There is also a 430L 4050kv for $109. But I don't think I need that just yet.

Why do you ask?
Is there something very obviously wrong with that motor/esc combo that I'm missing?

I have some limited experience with Helis over the last few months.
But I have extensive, although dated, experience with fixed wings.

This will be my first large(r) sized heli.
Up until this build, I've been flying a CX2, and this

An lemme tell ya, that lil guy is a handful to hover! lol

No real reason,If the EXI has one falt it is thst it comes with on instructions. But it is total built, you only have to install servos motor esc and gryo and your off.I had to flip the servos around a few times but no real problem. My so had his flying in about a hour,we did locktight every thig the factory did not.Even the ball joint and linkage was perfect blad tracking was right on.And it comes with crapy blades a set of aglin pro's is 13 bucks.I can set you all the piocs you will need for a perfec t build.Xheli .com has them in stock now for 99 bucks 113 to my door.Thay all so have the pro version for 189 but out of stock on that...

Pics of a build would be nice. It's good to hear that they go together that well. I know they come with no instructions, I was bracing myself for that. I've been forraging around on the net for all the info I can find. But it be honest, I don't think it's going to be that bad.

I looked at the "pro" version. Lots of really nice bling. I even thought about it for a second or two. Nice light blue anodizing. But for this heli, it just doesn't make sense. This is a learning heli, it's going to live a hard life. All that bling just makes for more expensive repairs!

Beer can sized motors?!? lol

I'll probably go with the Align 430L & ESC combo from ebay.
Those are $50 each from HeliDirect. So it's a decent deal for getting started. I know there are better deals on the classifieds on this board, and others, but this really just isn't a bad deal. That motor should fly the EXI well enough to learn on.

I thought they would.

Isn't a 12t kind of agressive? (for me?)
I was thinking of something in the 10t range... But I guess it depends on the size of the main gear. I haven't really looked at that yet.

As to blades, I was planning on using Align woodys. I'm not going to get to extravagant just yet. I'll just break 'em anyway.

Don't forget about throttle curves, you can run 10,11,or 13 t pinions .If it's to much you run your high curve at 75% or so.I would always run a higher pinion and tame it down on the radio so it's always there when you want it not changing pinions all day..

Wicked looking canopy on the Logo! I like it!!!

Yeah, I was wondering if you couldn't just turn down the power on the throttle curves. I wasn't sure if it was okay to run them at reduced power like that. But if so, that is a good solution for taming it down until I'm more ready for it.
