The more i look at this the more impressed i am !

I like the "A" frames for the landing legs, the way its lowered the machine , also how the motor is mounted is great, its raised the CG and also the pack mounting.

Im really impressed, well done !

Thanks what the ION-X2 should have been

TIM at MA take note of this and make this model instead then MA will be the cream of the crop of the 90 E market

Man! you should get some of these cut to sell.... that's exactly what the lay out should be, for about every E heli...

Markus,

Very impressive concept Mate! Overall, I really like it. Just a few comments/questions;

You say you have an 11:0 ratio. Is that with a 100t main and 9t pinion? If so, I think you are going to get a lot of main gear wear. MA are just coming out with 111t main gears (for their Bandit 50) and these would be better with a 10t pinion imop.

Also, it does not look like you have much room to shift the Actro motor for different ratio's.

I also notice that your tail rotors are on the right side (wrong side for X-cell's). I really do not know if this makes any difference or not. It looks like an easy switch in any case.

I like your canopy except for it's fat/low bottom (a bit like the Razor). You probably did this to fit your Rx Lipo packs, but these could be moved elsewhere and the bottom streamlined up a bit. It would be great if you could mod an Ion-x canopy to fit. These are very light, and good looking canopies imop. You probably would need to cut out a bit on top to clear the motor.

Again, I really like your concept and thanks for sharing this with all of us. Well done, and I look forward to your flight reports.

Cheers,
Tom C

Tom

Seriously what are you talking about ?

I dont see you doing what this guy has done.

At a guess i would say if hes gone down this path he obviously knows whats going on and how to do it

I think it would be fair to say hes done this before

Also i think you will find the canopys a synergy one

FAI slider for XCell has the option so you can choose what side you want, no "wrong" side.

MrMel,

I'm sure you are correct. This is is the first X-cell I've seem with the tail on the right but I'm sure there are others since you do seem to have the choice.

Bathmagic,

What the heck? I'm not knocking anything, just giving my first impressions and looking for a bit more detail, that's all. Overall, I think the concept is great and I agree that I could not even come close to matching it.

Cheers,
Tom C

Markus,

Thanks for the drawing, this helps explain a lot. Looks like you have ~+/-3mm of motor movement available which should be enough if you want to use the new 111t MA maingears.

Did you have your 110t maingear custom made? If so, would these be avalable to others? Thanks again for this great concept heli. Looks like a real winner!

Cheers,
TomC

Hello Guys!

Thanks for the flowers ;-) ! I’m happy and a little bit proud that you all like my construction.

The rebuilding is laid out for the Stratus and also for the Fury.
All parts for the rebuilding of the framework as well as the maingear were produced by me. The canopy is also an own-production. The size of the canopy results in the intent that it shall fit on the E-Stratus and also on the Nitro-Stratus.
The mechanics weighs ready-to-fly 3,8 kg without accumulator. The accumulator can be changed in 2 sec because of the easy fixations. The fixing-plate for the accumulator can be laid out according to all kinds of different accumulators. At the pictures you can see the first prototype and I still have some ideas and alterations in planning.

I have sent the Link also to MA. If I receive no feedback of MA, I will produce the parts with a minimum of order.
Therefore ask your friends who of all wants to have one!

I definitely needn’t to tell you, what power a 90E-Heli with only 5 kg weight and 4,6 KW motor-power has!?!

Greetings
Markus

Markus,

I hope MA takes you up on this design. If not, and you go ahead with it yourself, I'd be interested in buying a frameset to convert one of my Ion-x heli's. Good luck with all this.

Best cheers,
Tom C
