Radio - Servo - Gyro - Gov - Batt > Futaba BLS351 vs 9351 or BSL451

I'm looking for some servos for a 90 heli, probably MA Stratus. I was planning to use the BLS451 since I have had good results in a T-Rex 600N. However, after seeing the results posted by member playfair http://runryder.com/helicopter/t424587p1/ on various servos, I'm leaning more toward the BSL351 or 9351. playfair's tests indicate far more speed under load above 44in-oz for the 9351 compared to the BLS451.

So, my questions are:
1. has anyone had any bad experiences with the BLS351,
2. is the BLS351 worth the extra $30 compared to the 9351,
3. is the BLS451 the better choice after all considering the typical load on a 90 heli and the added cost of the other servos?

Other considerations, although unlikely, I may at some point use the servos in a 27% - 35% plank. The extra torque would be needed if I do. Also, I considered the JR8717 and 8711. Is the 8711 suitable for a heli, the 8717 not suitable for a plank (centering issues, current draw, etc.)? Their speed/torque specs look good for both.

Thanks in advance for the helpful input.

I've 3 BLS451 on my Raptor 90 and they work very well. No troubles till now, they have enough torque also for a 90-class machine.

I used BLS351 in my Gasser, very powerful and smooth! so far no problem.

Any opinions from the JR crowd? Anyone know why the BLS351 is so much more $ than the 9351? Need some more opinions before I decide on new servos. Thanks!

I just saw an interview with Mat Botos at the Huntington Fun Fly and he said he uses BSL 251 for tail and BSL 351 for cyclic. At least that what I remember of the interview.

Didn't hear much feedback, so I am now the proud owner of a some BLS351's. I guess the JR servos weren't worth recommending!

LOL. You made your choice on the JR servos pretty much before you posted. The 8717 is the current king of the hill for cyclic servos and pretty much the only one we can run on 8v. Nothing out there comes close. Not a good choice for a big plank later.

The 8711's are not suitable as they are too slow, and we just don't need any where near 400oz of torque * 3 on these size heli's.

To me the BLS351's are worth the extra dough as they are far better under load than than the BLS451's. But you will find most guys are running the BLS451's and loving them.

Enjoy your servos it isn't like you can go wrong with any of your choices.
