Anybody know what grease(if any)doest fly off of your thrust bearings?
I have tried many and none so far stay on very long. The best I have used so far is plain old high temp automotive wheel bearing grease(the sticky red stuff).

White Lithium grease? Thats what I use on thrust bearings.

Sure a little bit flies off, but after 50 flights (if I made it that far without crashing, there is always some grease still in there when I take the head apart.

You ever hear the expression, "Bigger the glob the better the job"?
That applies here.

Use it on Thrust Bearings and in servo gears
This stuff here, I got it at Home Depot

An expert on the subject who's knowledge I trust pointed me towards Bosch Beige. It supposedly has the highest melting point of any high-speed, high temp bearing grease. Bosch makes it for their high-speed power tools, like impact wrenches and hammer drills. Impact... Hammer... sound familiar?

The Bosch part number is 1615430001. Any certified Bosch Service Center will carry it or can get it -- just ask for Bosch Beige. This $15/225mL tube will last you through dozens of heli builds and rebuilds.

HeliProz will sell you The Greaser if you don't have one already. This is an essential tool (along with a high-quality grease) for any heli builder.

Best bearing grease ever. Triflow red and triflow regular synthetic grease.

Bosch is quite good but I have found the Vario "Titanium Grease" to be the best for gear boxes and thurst bearings.

anybody ever try using motorcycle chain lube on thrust bearings?
the stuff is very sticky and wont fly off the chain so I bet it stays on thrust bearings...

I use the red STP lithium grease (for wheels bearings) - works fine.

I used silicon grease. Also having the cage facing towards the centre kinda holds/cups the grease and stays longer.

I think I'll try some Krytox. We use it here for plastic pneumatic actuators. Krytox RFE is a white synthetic PTFE lube that will not attack plastic. I dont know why I didn't think of this before. I've been using a black high pressure molydisulfide grease used for automotive engine assembly. It makes a mess but sticks pretty well. Krytox is used for ultrapure applications and its funny to read about missle assembly and satellite lubing and stuff on the package! Obviously it has some military applications.
