ahhh, nice term. I guess I'm a suicide voter too them, but for McCain so Obama won't win.

But, as a former hard-core right-winger Evangelical for 10 years, I don't think I could go the other way if I still held my two issue agenda mentality against homosexuality and abortion.

As a Right-Winger, there was no way in the world I would vote for a Democrat candidate that allows 1.2 Million Babies to be killed in Abortion Clinics every year in the United States. I couldn't even comprehend how a Christian would even be a Democrat. Though today I believe abortion is a great sin in the eyes of God, the greater issues for me was to be a voice for the 15-20 Million Illegal Immigrants who need a voice who will vote for them. That issue alone made me leave the Republican Party.

But, along comes Mr. John McCain who I believe is way more a true Christian than most of the Right-Wing Republicans. He cares about the illegal-immigrant, and values the life of innocent babies in the womb. Those two issues alone make McCain, MY MAN!!!!!

Another note also, the Republican Party will never again be the ultra-right hard core conservative party is used to be.

The times have changed my friend, and people have started to see the true light of God shinning in their hearts for them to stay like they once were.

I just saw a report on CNN that said that the state of Arizona is begging illegal aliens to come back...

They can't find anyone to work the kind of jobs they are willing to do. Employers have tried to find people but they can't. They are afraid that the cost of goods is going to go through the roof. So the politicians are getting pressure from the employers to pass a law that allows the illegal aliens to work there legally.

They are fearing that the economy of Arizona will collapse!

The only thing wrong with deporting this is.....they just come back. I have read that some criminals have been deported several times. Deportation just doesn't seem to work. Nor does sticking them in prison for us to take care of at $30,000 plus a year. I really don't have an answer to this problem but I don't want give out a blanket amnesty to any person who sneak into the US.

Its impossible to deny that the US needs the cheap labor the illegals provide. For people who scream "They are taking American's jobs!!" I implore you to call your local construction site or perhaps vegetable farms and ask them if they would rather hire Americans or illegals. They will laugh at you, there is no choice to meet market demands.

Having said that, there needs to be control on what is currently out of control. These people are not citizens and have no right to be treated as such. There should be no golden baby rule. No free health care. Certainly no social security. Maybe there needs to be a sign at the border that reads "You are here as cheap labor, don't forget it."

Obama is just scary. McCain would not be my first choice, but is the only viable option. Everyone should at least do some research before they vote on whoever.

If it was either go and do hard work (as the illegal aliens are doing) or don't eat... They'd do the work.

But, as it is now the choices are:
Go do hard work and earn a living...

or


Stay at home and watch soap operas or The Jerry Springer Show and we'll send you money and food stamps...

Most are choosing the latter...

I agree that welfare keeps Americans from doing this kinda of work.
Im curious, some of you folks that are good with numbers , could you project how much more a can of beans or whatever would cost if you pay someone a living wage to do what the illegals do now?

Unemployment benefits in Aus is called the "Dole"
On the Dole means, on unemployment benefits.
An often used term for them is "Dole bludgers"

In Australia the Howard Govt introduced a policy called "mutual obligation"
Essentially
They pay you the benefits, and send you to work at various jobs for it.
The process of staying on the Dole is made difficult and they put you through the hoops to keep it, it is easier to just go an get a job now.
The nature of the work is community projects, similar to commnuty based orders given to criminals that forces them to work instead of doing prison..

I wonder how this would work in the USA.

The statistics seem to be hard to nail down, but one example was that a legal janitor in LA made $12hr while an illegal made $3.75. Add to this that the cost to the business for the legal janitor is probably closer to $18-$20 an hour for unemployment and things like that, which are not being paid for illegal.

That's actually quite simple to calculate if you have the data you need. You need to know how much beans they can pick per day/hour + how much they are paid per day/hour. This will give you how much it cost to pick each kg of beans. Then you simply do the same with the salary an American worker would get and do the same.

If you are lucky, this is the difference. Probably you are not that lucky cause those that manufacture the can of beans will probably add their percentages on the higher basic price. You might also expect a lower number of kgs per hour than what the illegals produce cause they secure their job by being effective, which is not always the case if this gets organized.

Interesting report. I hear another town in the South also has this problem. They passed harsh laws agaist illegals, and now their county is basically a ghost town, begging illegals to come back and jump start their economy.

People don't understand the depths of what tough laws on illegals will to to their local city and towns.

Lou Dobbs critizised Mayor Villaraigosa of Los Angeles for harboring illegals. But Villaraigosa basically said that the economy of Los Angeles is bad enough, and any tough enforcement against illegals would cripple the city.

Unfortunately, others are finding this out the hard way.

For this reason I fear what Barak Obama wants to do. He wants to crack down on businesses that hire illegals. If Barak Obama becomes President, our economy will really go down the drain.

No, I don't want anybody to break any law and enter our country illegally. McCain's border initiative is fine with me.

What I'm saying is what to do with the 15-20 Million already here. I like McCain's plan of action of compassion towards them. There's way more to McCain's proposal. Its not a quick amnesty program, but more like a guest worker program of some kind.

Latin American countries though need to work harder on stimulating their economies so people won't want to leave, and enter illegally into the US.
