JR Heli Vibe - Airskipper - Sylphide - Venture > Airskipper 50 Type II

Well, I can never understand why JR always has 2 different version of their product.

They annouced the Airskipper 50 Type 2 that has the same frame and rotorhead as the Vibe 50. The difference is that this one has a different canopy and it's belt drive.

I believe the Japanese writing says this will be released in July 08.

That's cool. It's what I asked for back in a November post.

Now if they would bring it to the US at $490! Btw Horizon, I am no longer laid off.

Just noticed, the frames are not the same. Look at the CCPM servo layout, landing gear mounting, and the gyro mounting.

This is a new Airskipper 50 model, not a Vibe 50.

Yah, right, the frame is different.

Rotorhead colour is different too, though it looks the same in terms of design.

Hehe, in my opinion, Vibe 50 canopy looks so much better.

If you look at the PDF file, at the bottom you have 3 lines with prices.

The first 2 are the usual

helicopter only
helicopter with engine

The 3rd one seems to refer to the original AS50 and AS50-BB

For about $190 ... is this an updrade kit to the Type-2 ??

In Japan , the old Air skipper has a list price of 69,090 Yen for a 50 kit with no engine. They are always discounted(even when new on the market) with the old model down to a price of 42000Yen ( 408 $). This price is avaliable from all the big japanese retailers( Champ, Raukesi etc). I would imagine the new model will be no different so you could get it sent to the US.

I just need more time!

lol

I think the question is pretty valid don't you think? JR just came out with a vibe 50 which the best 50 sized machine I ever flown and 6 months later they are making an airskipper two? It looks heavier (not so much weight shaved of the frames) so F3C comes to mind but then you look at JR's video and thats no F3C in my book.

I don't understand the strategy behind this?

Thats totally different then the Vibe 50... Why does Align have a 600N and a 600N pro... the pro has carbon fiber frame and a driveshaft tail drive instead of belt drive. Probably the Airskipper will be priced more entry level, in the $400 range rather than the current skipper being only $50 cheaper than the Vibe 50 3D Pro. I bet the Airskipper II will be marketed as a Vibe 50 in the US. So there will be two Vibe 50 models.

I have my doubts. Look at it. Different ccpm geometry, different frames, different canopy, etc. Too different to be just a "Vibe 50 tail belt"

Maybe we are.

I just wish they would pick up my 14mz, strip the electronics and but a magnesium case on it. That I would buy in two seconds
