e-Quick Of Japan EP-8/10/16/18 > Most common source of low Freq vibration on EP-8v2 EX?

Ok,
So I just busted my EP-8v2 EX out of winter storage, and after looking everything over I took it out for some hovers this afternoon. It had some shake when I put it way, and I had driven myself crazy trying to fix it and eventually just lived with it. It isn’t that noticeable at full throttle but when I spin up you can definitely see it. When I take the blade and flybar paddles off the heli has some vibration when I touch the body while it’s at throttle but I don’t know whether this is regular vibration from all the moving parts or if is a vibration from being off balance and it is amplified when I put the blades on.

P.S. I just bought a more powerful motor and thus need a smaller pinion gear. Is their anything special I need to know about pinion gears for the EP-8 that I should know? Thanks aging

P.P.S. I will try to get a video/ as many pictures tomorrow afternoon when I get to the flying field/settle for my back yard.

It looks like you have it stretched with the long tailboom option?
Is it stretched ?

Yeah, its stretched. Since im a noob i went for it in the hopes of helping me hover. I'm past basic hovering now but still keep the kit so i dont have to get new blades.

Is the red tape on the blades for balance? If it is it may be in the wrong place. Watch the blade balancing video in the trex450 video section of the freak site. Center of gravity is balanced at the tips. While total blade weight is done at CG point. Hope it helps!

When I was flying my Stretched EP8 I found that without boom supports I would get vibrations throughout the heli.
Here is how I made my boom supports; an extra boom block and some Trex600 boom support rods and ends... Try this first...
Then , take off the blades and spool up the heli and if you still have vibrations , add a piece of electrical tape, about 1.5" inches, to one of the paddles ,if it gets worse change it to the other side and see if maybe the paddles are out of balance..... Try this and then we can start eliminating some other areas...
This is assuming that the blades are balanced right.

on the first 2 pics you can see that I ground down the boom block to be round , like the boom.

Just make sure the gear mod. is 0.6 and use a piece of paper as a feeler gauge for backlash. If you switch to Gov. mode you may not have to change the pinion if your head speed hits at 75-85% your set for flying Gov.
