hello, I put my N9 together last night. I have about 1.5mm up/ down play in the main mast. do i need to just shim it up until it is snug?
or
did I miss something in the build?

Do you have the main shaft coller located under the top bearing block?

From memory you shim underneath the crown gear to get a tight mesh with the tail drive and then push the head down lightly and do up the mast collar tight underneath the top bearing.
If the crown gear mesh isn't tight when new it may strip
I hope that makes sense and helps

u.k. sailor is right the shims are for the crown gear mesh and it must be tight but not grinding tight the one thing i would like to add is the hyper collor is a nice upgrade form stock and i have it and relly like it after you set the collar try pulling the mast up by the grip you want no up and down movement. Hope this helps
