2 Shims om the Head?? What Temp do you call hot???

AS boss hog said two shims under the head and you should b able to hold your finger on the back plate. Yes it is running to hot!!! Turn that high speed out 3,4, clicks or whatever it takes I use 30% with 23% oil, give it some lube Why r u useing 15% on that engine??

hi there gary

i thought the percentage was the nitro intake not the oil mass..i ran it on 20% and the smoke was like fog....i was told at the model shop with the 15 it means just less nitrous and the same oil amount as the 20...but then again how many model shop owners really do have hands one....do you think i should stick with the 20%..regards neil

if you put shims you lose compresion and that is losing power. l learned that one the hard way. try diffrent glow plugs and try to find the sweet spot. of if you want i had a guy at the field have a hot engine and they add some caster oil in small amounts to the fuel to cool it down.

jvraptor, I think u better read page 92 of the June RC Heli For 30% Nitro u add an additional .004-.008 for a total of .012"-.016". The thicker the shim the smoother the enging will run. Thats why u run 30% is has 23% oil . U will never knotice the small loss in compression on a .90

yes i did read it. and yes i agree it is a small lose but i did that same thing and i did notice i lost power. maybe it helped the guys problem in the mag. his is diffrent. im just saying find some other options before change the motor. i learn form a friend always get it back to were it was running nicly before before you jump that step.
