Hey guys I'm having trouble starting the new Titan 50. I had it running yesturday and today it won't start. Yesturday I used the hotshot 2 glow warmer to start it. Today I used a glow warmer from my old plane from 20 years ago. I hooked the leads to my 12v 7.5aH
battery and I think the plugs filament fried. The hotshot warmer puts out the 1.5V that's required to heat the plug. My question is,
putting 12V with the old clamp on warmer to the plug to much voltage? Is this why I'm burning up glow plugs? Thanks

I thought that's what was happening! Didn't dawn on me till I went through two new plugs. So how do these guys hook them up to thier 12V battery? Do they have some sort of device to cut down the voltage between battery and warmer? If so, what? Thanks

Silly Man, those plugs can only handle 1.5V to about 2.0V Max!!!!

Now you know, bet you don't do that again. School of hard knocks, this is how i've learned lots of things......LOL

Running too lean will take them out pretty quick also. I've burned a number of them when it leans out letting it run out of fuel. Ran fine during flite, let it run out off fuel and it won't restart. Put another glow plug in and it runs fine again. However, 12 volts will definitly vaporize one if it was good before you connected it.

When using a glow warmer, one of those with the meter in the back come in real handy. No meter movement and you either have a bad glow plug, or dead battery.

Did they whistle before they blew?

The LHS had a batch of bad power panels where the glow outlet had 12v same as the starter outlet, the glow plugs would whistle then pop.

That's exactly what happened! They sounded like a miniature bottle rocket. Yup, school of hard knocks! Been there many times. It always ends up hitting my wallet. Oh well! Thanks so much guys for the help once again.
