IMO, the canopy I got with my Sport 50 is about as ugly as they come. I have seen several other sport 50s that have a much better looking canopy. Even the picture on the kit box was a nicer canopy than what I got. I just got done butchering the stock canopy. I drilled a bunch of holes and ty-rapped on some glowire for night flying. I'd like to get a nicer canopy is there is something available. I'm not wanting an expensive fiberglass piece, just a nicer looking, better fitting "bleach bottle". Are there any available???

get the 3d plastic canopy and sticker set. It must be an older kit as the sport comes with these stock now.

Essentially, yes, I did order it blind! I flew one at a fly-in last summer in Lafayette IN. The guy that let me fly it was handing out "coupons" to get one for less than $200. I don't think his had the same canopy mine came with. He may have changed his out for one of the 3D canopies. I didn't know if they were interchangable as the 3D version is a much better looking canopy. Like I said, even the picture on the kit box didn't look as bad as the one I got in the box!

Both of the last two helis have much nicer looking and fitting canopies than what I got with my kit. I know one is the plastic 3D canopy, not sure what the other one is from. I'll get one of the stock plastic 3D canopies ordered here in the next few days.

I just ordered the stk plastic canopy a couple of weeks ago and it still has the flares at the bottom like the origanal, but it is cut slightly different.had i known i would have got the 3d canopy.

The 3D and the NEW sport both come with the same plastic canopy as shown on the 2 helis above. The older sport kits have the Ugly one. The new canopy comes with the decal sheet for either a Sport or 3D. If you order a replacement plastic canopy for the sport make sure it is the new one. I called before placing my order to be sure which one they had. My Sport kit came with the canopy with the flares on the bottom as well. I too thought it was ugly and got the new one Also when you use the NEW canopy on a Sport you must change to the short stand offs and you will also not be making your holes at the dimples in the plastic. You will have to mark and make your holes where needed.

I moved the standard short posts from the top to replace the front large posts, and used the large one on the gyro mount, drilled the front holes in canopy 72mm fwd, mounted the canopy and then marked the rear ones before drilling.

Just a different way of mounting without having to buy the shorter posts..

I used the original to put my glo wire on. The extra area near the mast and over all size is simply fantastic for night flying. It makes it look almost as bit as a 90 and the outline of the ugly day canopy looks sweet at night.

My stock ugly is all ready to go for some night flying. If the rain would quit, I'd get some in tonight but it's not looking real promising.
I've searched several of the online retailers but they all either show the ugly one. I guess I'll have to call and verify what they actually have.
