Miniature Aircraft Nitro/Gas Helicopters > 140CCPM BW Stratus' Swashplate Setup "HELP"

I had just converted my standard Stratus into a BW's one and I decided to try for first time 140ccpm swash type, there are some few question that I need to ask you guys who already has experiences with it, what are the new measurements for the linkages from servo to bellcranks (since the aleron bellcranks is moved forth)? And how about the bellcranks - swashplates' linkages? And a newbie question is how do I get to level the swash if I'm not getting 90 degrees in the JR8717 servos using the stock Long servo's arm? Cause in the Futaba servo's case was very easy by selecting the correct number in servo wheel until I get it 90 degrees. I want to thanks you guys in advance for you advices cause this are the things stopping to take her to the field this weekend

THANKS!!

I have no background knowledge about JR. However there has to be away to get a horn to be @90 degree to the servo. once you establish that you need to get the bell cranks @90 degrees as well. Which means you have to lengthen or shorten the rods. You are off course doing that while the servos are @ neutral point(center). then you have to work on interactions. hope that helps

Just do it.

The stock JR horns will not get you 90 degrees. You're going to have to try out different horns.

JR servo horns are numbered on the back. Get a selection and find out which one works for you, as each one has the splines ofset slightly differently to allow you to get your 90 degrees or as close as possible.

3D Heli,

But the JR longest horn has two arms only and I can't get it 90 degrees with none of them.

jphilli,

What other horns are ppls using for this?

There are so many stratus and other birds out there with JR servos, just wonder how are they doing with it, or I'm not setting it in the correct way? Just don't understand how ppls are doing, cause obviously using sub-trim is not a option. Come on guys! I'm willing to learn

David, with the stock JR horns with the 8717 on a Stratus, you cannot get 90 degrees. You can get pretty close but you will have to use subtrim.

As far as what horns will work, just take a look through this thread:

jphilli,

hey thanks for the link man, Dang!! I should had have made a little search on the past posts, it's seems to be an very discussed term already, but what I could see in the end there is no way getting it perfectly setted without using sub-trim

Thanks for informations guys.

As I set up mainly for 3D I am maybe out a fraction but it is only a fraction, as this is acceptable for me. It certainly does not show in the machine performance but I have used the long JR servo arms and if they weren't at 90 degrees then they were so close I certainly couldn't tell...but maybe it's just my eyes.

It seems odd that JR would produce servo arms that don't achieve 90 degrees? If that is true what servo arms are world class/World champion FAI pilots like Scott Gray or Hiroki Ito using, as they are JR guys? Anyone know or is this just an issue with the 8717?

Hey guys, I could get all three servos and bellcranks setted at exactly 90 degrees but with the "BIG" help of 40 (ALE), (40) PITCH and (45) ELEV of sub-trim. Dang! I've never been used so much sub-trim on a eCCPM heli, I put 60 of ATV on the SWASH for all 3, at low and mid pitch was "0" interaction but at high pitch "a lots" (finally pitch curve is not been setted yet). How this sounds to you guys? What you think??

3D Heli, Ya! I can't understand it. Or 8717 isn't a heli's servo?

Thanks
