I am new to heli and I have set up my trex 450 Sa w/ spectrum digital 285 futaba digital for tail Align 430l and Phoenix 35 amp speed controller, Futaba 401 gyro e flight 20c lipo. I have had some help at the field setting it up and it seems fine but I let one of the heli guys at the field fly it and when he took off full throttle it started spinning like the gyro was not working. He saved it and landed dine but told me my battery was the problem. I need a 25c battery or a better 20c. I did not believe him at first but them he put one of his batteries in that had just been used and still had some charge in it and proved his point. heli went straight up without so much as a tail wag. Has anyone had this happen?

I have had this with my futaba 240 and 401 gyro's if you don't let them initalise properly on the floor (or in your hand). The tail drifts to one side instead of sitting in the middle even though you've put no rudder control in and the heli hasn't moved. Unplug the battery and put it back in and it centers fine.

If your battery isn't supplying enough juice and you do try to take off at full throttle you will lose some headspeed and so you will lose some tail authority.
