If I turn off the heli and push the swash plate all the way down, The washout falls off the end of the phazing pins.

It's no big deal, but it's something I need to lookout for during preflight. If I turn this thing on without those pins in the right place, the strength of the servos might damage something.

Anybody else find that the phazing ring needed to be pulled down from the bottom of the head block about 3.5mm to make it have enough travel?

Once I'd set up my head, i.e. pitch range, mixing ratios, grip orientation etc. I then positioned the phasing pin collar such that when the swash plate was fully up it sat on top of the washout base. Clearly if your set up changes the collar will need to be re-positioned.

Because the Avro has such a wide range of set-up options it’s actually quite interesting to think about the optimal length of the guide pins. If they are too long then in some set-ups they will collide with the swash plate, if they are too short the mixer base will disengage when it isn’t supposed to!

A side effect of this is that in some set-ups if you pull the swash all the way down the pins can disengage (but obviously the swash would never get this low in flight).

I did notice this when I first built my Avro a good 6 to 7 months ago, and it wasn’t until I though about the range of set-up options that I realized that the length of the pins was a subtle design constraint, a detail that I hadn’t really considered before...

I guess if you were only ever going to fly a particular set-up you could optimize the pin length to suit.

I to noticed this and was going to put a thin tube on the shaft to limit the travel but i found a bit of clear tape did the job.
My Evo ccpm had this problem and one day my first take of of the day was a flip inverted off the deck and away!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Wow did it fell strange . Got it down OK and found the problem.

Just don't forget to take it off before you fly!
