Got Jet Fuel? Turbine Helicopters > JetCopter tail rotor pitch

Hi again guys

Question for the JetCopter or HotCat boys. I am installing the radio gear in my HotCat and was wondering what the measurement is between the tail rotor blades ( measured at the tips ) folded back. I am looking for the approximate hover pitch position. Just for information, the Hotcat also has counterclockwise rotation and uses SAB blades both main and tail. The tail blades are 13.2 cm measured from mounting hole to tip.

TIA

Dean, can you put the tail photo on here? I don't have access!!!

I flew the HotCat last weekend – brilliant!! Very Fast

Be careful checking the in-built fuel tanks, I had 6 leaks in the moulding!! Not very good!. Fit the pipe fitting adaptor, link the clunk and vent connections with a piece of tube. Connect another piece of tube to the third connection and pressurize the tank by blowing down the tube. The tanks should hold air and not leak.

I had to put the canopy under water and pressurize the tanks to see where the leaks were!!!

T/R pitch at hover

Evening Dean

The Jetcopter (Vario) t/r blades cannot be rotated around enough to do that tip difference measurement.

cheers

We are not talking about Jetcopter (NOT Vario it's Vario USA - this machine does not come from Vario Germany)

We are talking about JetCats "HotCat" from Germany!!!

HotCat Update

Thanks all to have replied to my inquiry. As many of you know there are presently two different type of JetCat turbine powered " pod and boom " models. The first being the very successful JetCopter SX which is a blending of Vario components to the JetCat main mechanics
( HP5 in North America / PHT3 everywhere else ). The latest pod and boom to come out is the HotCat - JetCats own complete version which features Robbe components. The HotCat comes in kit form only unfortunately, the instructions are " pictures on a disc only at this time". Those with experience assembling helicopters by and large will have no problem " blundering " their way through the assembly process but having some understanding in the Robbe way of doing things and a backround in the German language certainly helps.

As there are some important areas to watch for and with a lack of comprehensive instructions ( given the cost of the machine - their really needs to be something!! ) a number of us are trying to come up with a package of pics and written format to assist in the building process. Dave Hollins and Don DeSandre have been a wealth of information and have come up with some betters ways to do things as well. I have found some critical areas that need careful assembly techniques as well. This is also a counterclockwise rotating model so many helicopter enthusiasts will have to keep that in mind while assembling the HotCat and in flight mode ( although I really noticed little difference personally in flight ). I have taken a number of pictures and would be happy to post them here but.....can't seem to make it happen. If someone would like me to email them and they can post them that would be great.

Oh...I did get my answers to the tail rotor measurement and I am glad I asked ( see no instructions ) as I almost forgot that I needed opposite hover pitch than I was accustomed to figuring out....remember this bird has an anticlockwise main rotor design!
