looking closer, there is supposed to be a aluminum spacer under it to the bearing block? just confirming, as mine has nothing.

im pretty sure its normal. mine moves up and down maybe half a mm, maybe a little more, but not much. i believe its the way the one way bearing is made. but mine has always been like that, and i put almsot 100 flights on it last summer, still on the same gear.

How did you adjust the crown gear mesh?

Are you using the split collar and thrust bearing at the bottom of the mast?

I don't think you understand what Bill M is raving about in the gasser forum. He kind of answered your question 2 days before you asked it. That's about as fast as it gets.

Jack,
I guess I really have not gotten that far yet, we will find out tonight after I assemble the thing again, hopefully for the last time.

I dont have a split collar on the mainshaft, just the one that screws into the mainshaft.Ill probably play with some shims to get it right for now I guess? Ill have to order the other parts

Ace, not that I seen he didnt, I just posted to soon about it, as after staring at the crappy manual, I realized that my bird is missing a part all together, I have the stuff to make one now, so itll be all good in a few hours.

Thanks

Could someone post a link to a gasser manual that they feel is so much better than Century's? From what I have seen on the Internet they all have omissions.

thats like compairing a pile of broken car parts from a scrap yard duct taped together to make a single working car, to a Farrari

The "manual" sucks - it's more of a guide and suggestion pamphlet. But once the build was behind me I am happy with the machine. I have about a gallon through mine. I'll be putting the MA O-ring spacers in the main gear assembly this week - I hope! - time is a precious commodity.

Also adding the nice Jewel generator. I will post pix on both as I dive into that endeavor.

I love my R50, stable, inexpensive, awesome performance...

As for the Predator, I just ran it for a few min in the yard, I dont have a big yard so just wanted to hear it run. I look forward to getting this thing off the ground.

Fine, show me a gasser manual that you think is better. That's all I am asking.

The one I got with my weed eater is much better, My toaster even had a detailed manual and everybody knows how to work a toaster. The point being these heli manufactures should have a detailed manual on how to build there helicopters. I would think that they would want to get the best manual into the hands of the purchaser for if its built to there specifications and done to there specs it would cause less problems and crashes and repeat customers. I got a detailed manual from a toy I purchased my son and the toy cost $20.00. Purchased $130.00 upgraded cnc metal head with no manual what so ever. Now that $20.00 toy could not kill anyone but the new cnc head could! Just makes no sense to me. Come on guys whats up???

If it doesn't fly sell it!

Not all helicopters have crappy manuals... Some are actually quite comprehensive.

Gassers are the worst by far!

I just started a post in the main forum just to get some idea of the magnitude of this problem and if there was one at all.
